My wife and I recently had the pleasure of eating here and I must say, We were both impressed! Their breakfast was truly amazing. The huevo ranchero plate really hit the spot and my side taco of Piccadillo reminded me of my Mothers' very own. My wife had menudo, which she truly enjoyed. Great tortillas too!

Ended up at Tommy’s by default as another restaurant in the area that we had intended to visit was closed. I remembered that I had seen information about there being several of these Restaurants (Tommy’s) in San Antonio, but had never been to one.
You have heard of having a sweet tooth? Well we had a bad case of taco tooth. Grabbed a menu at the door and confirmed that the cuisine was Mexican since that was what we were craving. With a name like Tommy’s I wanted to be certain. One might have expected to see chicken fried steak, meat loaf, fried fish and hamburgers on the menu in a restaurant by that name.
We also found it hard to believe that the restaurant had occupied this location for 7 years without us having tried it. On the other hand, we usually don’t frequent this area and recalled that this location used to be the Rapid Rabbit restaurant where they served dishes of same.
Large plates of better than average Mexican food is the quick and dirty on this place (since I got wrapped around the axle with the prologue). Large plate of neatly arranged bean and cheese nachos, huge puffy taco, beefy enchiladas with cheesy sauce, average refrieds and rice, and one of the best chalupas compuestas I have had in a while. Our poor little table for four was absolutely covered with plates!
Loaded up the to-go styros with enough food for another full meal and look forward to returning to try their breakfast tacos which they serve all day. I suggested to the cashier that they add “Mexican” to the restaurant’s name. That went over about as well as writing a song about a deaf, dumb and blind pinball wizard.
