We went opening weekend of the new Aquatica - had a great time. We were ambitious and did Sea World and Aquatica on different days - not good for out-of-shape folks like us, but we lived, we lived with sore calves and sunburns, but we lived. :)

Where we were frustrated was with the food lines - RIDICULOUS.
There were a couple cashiers who were just standing-unused.
Also if you know that 3 of your 5 food choices come with french fries, there should be a steady stream of fries. Sea World could learn from Sams Club or busy drive-through windows on this one. Use the portable POS system, get the orders out of the way, and let people get through the line to pick up and pay.

There were long lines on some rides, you should expect that.
You shouldn't have to expect that the food lines would be longer than ride lines.
Proper planning in my opinion would be the more time guests spend on rides, the more likely they are to have a great time and look forward to coming back.

We will come back - but the "looking forward" part ... that's a bit more apprehensive.
The lines at the remainder of the Sea World park were shorter, we probably could have left Aquatica, gone into Sea World, ate and gotten back to playing - faster than we waited in line.

So if things haven't changed in that regard - be aware -- but you'll still have fun, and lots of it.

The newly redone waterpark at San Antonio's Sea World is definitely a major improvement from what it had been. The opportunities to interact with marine life do not really live up to the advertising promise but it's still a pretty cool thing to see. The slides were great and the new pools were a nice addition to make sure there is room for everyone. With the exception of immediately around the wave pool there was plenty of seating to go around.

The additional price tag on top of general admission seems expected but disappointing as it's a bit steep when you add on everything else. Ultimately, the family loved the visit. We'll be back periodically but the budget will restrict the frequency.

Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with our visit. Several rides were closed and for the price we were just expecting a little more.

We visited Seaworld on Monday and returned for our water fun day on Wednesday. With our Seaworld funcards it was another $20 for admission to Aquatica. Highly recommend getting there when they open at 10 am. We were 3 adults with 2 year old twin boys. The cabanas looked nice, but unless you are with older kids who don't require as much supervision and you can enjoy it yourself it looked like alot of money. We rented a locker for 7 dollars and placed our valuables in it. There was a 10 deposit for the key which was returned when you gave it back. There were plenty of open lounges so we just picked one out and parked our bags on it, and started having fun. We brought our own lifejackets, but there are plenty of them available in kids sizes everywhere you look. There were so many options for the little ones. Huge lazy river that was lots of fun for big and little people. The giant splashpad area was very popular with our two guys as well as three pools with slides that they loved. We were there on a weekday, and while it was crowded it wasn't that bad at all. There was only one ride they were tall enough to ride 36" for stingray falls. We rode it in the morning and had a blast. Unfortunately in the afternoon, after a long wait we got to the top with them and the attendant that was there said they were too short to ride! Funny they were tall enough this morning. We didn't eat there so I have no input on that aspect of the park. We purchased refillable Shamu cups on Monday in the park, and they refilled them here as well for a dollar. Good buy. We didn't get to ride on any of the big fast stuff, but it looked like they were moving quickly. Both days, Seaworld and Aquatica, we left around noon and went back to the hotel for lunch and naps. Once you have paid your $15 parking fee it is good for the whole day. We went back around 4:30 and stayed till around 7:30 or 8. Less crowded for sure. Lots to impress 2 year olds and bigger kids too.

We visited Aquatica on a Wednesday. We got there around 10:30am. The line to get in wasn't that long. We had reserved a premium cabana. It was awesome and I highly recommend it! The premium cabana came equipped with 4 souvineer towels, 12 bottles of water, a small bottle of 50 spf sunscreen, a table with 4 chairs, a lounger inside the cabana, and 2 loungers in the water. We also had a "cabana girl" who was there to assist us if needed. She also took food orders, however, we didn't order any of the food. It was nice that the cabana was in a location with limited access. There was a refrigerator and a locker to stored your items. Though we didn't stay in the cabana that much, it was nice to have a home base to get out of the sun. You have the ability to close the curtains for even more shade. There were only a few rides, so don't expect much. If you want a ton of rides, go to Schlitterbaun. The wave pool and the lazy river were nice. Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen! Get there early in the morning! It wasn't very crowded at first, but as the day progressed, it got pretty crowded. The ride that goes through the stingrays was the one we had the longest wait. The concrete can get pretty hot, so wear your flipflops! Feeding the stingrays was neat, but freaky! My husband and I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and they weren't very good. Our 7 year old got the chicken nuggets and she really liked them. Overall, we had a good time. I highly, highly recommend the premium cabana!! It made the experience so much nicer!
