Four of us decided to go out to see the local AA baseball team (The San Antonio Missions) play on a beautifully warm evening. We had seats behind home base and were able to see every pitch and disagreed with some of the calls made by the umpire. Between innings the team management had lots of "silly" but fun games for the kids. We will go back again.

If you have a chance to go to a baseball game during graduation week, I recommend doing it. Tickets are only $9. Its a double A baseball team and its a nice stadium. Your graduate will be able to stay out later than the 2000 curfew providing they have a Ticket Stub show the MTI when they return. The Stadium is approximately 10 minutes from the Main gate at Lackland Air Force Base.

There is a rumour that Nelson Wolff may be taken down soon, and a new stadium built downtown. That would be quite understandable, but also a bit of shame. This is a AA level jewel, not in the best part of town, but perfectly safe if inside the perimeter of the official parking areas.
The San Antonio Missions are the AA level team for the San Diego Padres, and as such, don't have access to a lot of baseball talent in the team pipeline. Still, the crowd is extremely knowledgeable, very into the game, and turns out well for the home team.
Prices are extremely reasonable for AA level ball - though these would be much higher than similar fare outside the ball park. Remember, no outside food or drink is allowed. We found the Kettle Korn to be about the best that we have ever had, and the brats were big enough and certainly well prepared. As you might expect in San Antonio, there is a large selection of Tex Mex style offerings, and these certainly seemed to be popular with the crowd.
We found the home town fans to be exceedingly friendly, willing to engage with very friendly banter, and while the team store was pretty small and very crowded, the prices were a bit cheaper than other AA level parks.

This is a great stadium with cheap prices and really no bad seats! If you want shade in the early part of the game, sit on first base side or behind home. Most the seats in the stadium are in the shade by the end of the 2nd inning. It's a great time at a great price!
