…and your favorite wine; your pick of spa attendants; etc. The staff is sterling! Peace and quiet. We didn’t see or hear any children (We think they are allowed, though). This is a small, 98-room boutique hotel with an addictive oyster bar, fabulous food, and employees who bend over backwards to accommodate your every whim. Gorgeous floral arrangements throughout.
The only negative was viewing the same curly hair and clothing tag on the floor of the toilet room (yes, it is a separate room) for three or four days until we left. Maybe a vacuum could be used?
The staff knew we were hoping for one of the two suites before we arrived. We were aware they were occupied and chances were slim. We tried sticking it out in the next level down (one room) but with an insomniac who leaves the TV on all night, we had to move or strangle each other.
Even after leaving, the concierge continued to help us and we frequented the spa and oyster bar for the next week. Fantastic place and employees!

Room Tip: Be aware that a view 'on the River Walk' means there is a street in front of the hotel, a si...

We paid full price for a one night stay at the last minute, expecting nothing but the best. And that is exactly what we got. Never having paid anything like this for a hotel, we needed a guaranteed good night's rest. We had a rare opportunity to leave our darling, nocturnal toddler for one night with my mom and could not risk a hotel with lots of summer traffic, bar scene, parties, or noisy kids. Yet we wanted to stay on the Riverwalk out of pure nostalgia (and the gluten free Iron Cactus restaurant nearby). We settled for a street view (really a parking garage) and a room at the end of the hall where other guests' doors were too close so that we could hear them coming and going till about 10:00. We didn't have time to get concerned because, soon, all was quiet. We have not slept that well in ages (2 years?). We were especially delighted with all of the extra touches and superb customer service from the staff: the turn-down service was divine and we appreciated the ambiance, my husband is still talking about the "coconut agua fresca"available at check-in, we almost didn't need the slippers because the carpet was lush and clean, LOVE the water pressure in the shower and full size spa tub ... and the air even felt incredibly fresh everywhere we went from the lobby to our room to the spa. We will definitely find a way to work in the spa next time. We enjoyed our respective tours of the men and women's spa areas and figure our kids will just have to rely on scholarships. Did I mention the staff? Think "Tiffany's" -- very high end jewelry store that treats each of its customers with the utmost courtesy and respect.

Our three night stay at the Mokara was such a treat! From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. As you walk through the front door the fragrance is so wonderful you will want to stay forever! There are so many nice things I can say about this hotel I don't know where to begin. I think the most important attribute was the quality of the staff at the hotel! I cannot say enough about each and every staff member I encountered... From the door to the room!!! First class!!!!!!! Anyway, the hotel is located right on the riverwalk near the beginning of the riverboat ride tour. The rooms were impressive! We did not have a room overlooking the river, but it was so nice I really didn't care about the view! The bed was loaded with pillows and soft linens. The bathroom was my favorite! It was enormous! It had a beautiful whirlpool tub and a large walk in glass shower. The dressing area was spacious and well designed. Following a long day of walking, it was wonderful to slip into the plush robes and slippers the hotel provided. I am sad to say I didn't have time to enjoy the spa more. I took a tour of it and was very impressed. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxury hotel. I must say it was the staff that puts this hotel over the top....in a class above the rest!!! It costs more than the other hotels along the riverwalk but it is worth every penny!!!! Well done Mokara!

Room Tip: We were on 3rd floor and noises were never an issue for us. Any room at the Mokara should be an exce...

If you are looking for a hotel experience where people go out of their way to anticipate your needs -- this is the place to stay in San Antonio. We were greeted on arrival with a complimentary upgrade to a river view room and the housekeeping staff immediately made sure we had bottled water and ice. We had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant and when the waitress overheard that we were celebrating our 20th anniversary - were gifted with a wonderful chocolate dessert. Here are some of the numerous "pros" for this hotel -- gracious staff, lovely work out facility, complementary morning coffee service delivered to your room, free internet, good mattresses and last but not least -- the best water pressure we've ever experienced in a hotel shower. The only "cons" that we experienced -- a very poor waitress on our return visit to the hotel restaurant on the second night, a 22% or so gratuity added to room service bills (in addition to $5 delivery charge) and poor pillows. The pros definitely outweigh the cons!

Pricy, but aboslutely Beautiful hotel with Super Excellent Service from start to finish. Riverview rooms are very nice overlooking the street below and directly across from to the river. The Hotels lover level where the Restaurant is located is actually right on the River. They have the BEST, bar none, breakfast buffet and a nice selection of Craft Beers on draft for the evening. ONLY negative is the sleeping arrangements. Wayyyyyyyyyy too small pillows with overly soft bed. If you sleep on the bed for more than one night, you will experience back problems...........guaranteed. Except for that, it's a 4.5 - 5 rating.

Room Tip: The balconies are small, but provide a nice view of the street and river below. Evenings are nice...

This hotel is so beautiful and sophisticated. The attention to detail is unlike any other. Would highly recommend! The jacuzzi is very nice and little samples from the spa are given to each guest. Cannot wait to go back.

Our first visit to San Antonio. Echoing the themes expressed by others we spent three days at the Mokara at the end of June. First rate service and a relaxed atmosphere. Excellent location on the Riverwalk. Enjoyed the coffee service in the room one morning - room service another. Was all brought to the room speedily. Did not partake of the spa facilities nor the pool area.

Room Tip: We were on the inside not on the balcony side. No views but not as pricey either. Temps hit 108 wh...
