I really had no understanding of what went down at the Alamo, but this was rectified when we wet into the building at the perfect time for one of the guides was giving a talk on the battle at the diorama near the back. The grounds are lovely to walk around with plenty of shady spots on a hot day. The gift shop was the best one we went to throughout Alamo City. Allow 1 -2 hours for your visits, it's not huge.

To stand on the grounds of the Alamo is a great experience that allows you to touch and see the great building from history. It is a true teaching moment for those not already familiar with the details of the heroic fight at the Alamo. The grounds are very well kept.

I didn't realize that there is a plaza. This is made up of the Alamo grounds and a few shops across the street from the Alamo. Lots of touristy things on the street, segway, double decker buses, trolleys, believe it or not, and other things like that.

The Alamo and surrounding area is always worth a stop. Don't miss a stroll around the grounds of the Alamo.
