“Kinda Sad”
Reviewed April 18, 2012

This picture, and so many others are of the Church. Sure it was a battle-ground but it was a mission and church first. People just don't treat it with enough respect. "Remeber the Alamo" .... remember it as a church where missionaries came to feed the poor and help them grow crops for food. It's not just a building. It's a church

“Disappointing”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

We relocated to Houston a year ago and were excited to drive to San Antonio for a weekend trip. Our main purpose was to visit the famous Alamo - but it is disappointing. It is such a small compound. That said, it has a lot of historical value - good to spend an hour or two but don't plan on spending your entire afternoon in Alamo!

“Worth seeing”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

This place is filled with history, so its worth walking through. There's really not a lot to see, but admission is free. Includes a lot of historical info and artifacts, but its not that interesting for kids. Gift shop is big and has a great selection from common tourist items, to historical books and items. An audio tour can be purchased, but I did not try it.

“Park Surrounding The Alamo - Clean & Green”
Reviewed March 6, 2012

See my seperate review of The Alamo. This is the small park / plaza surrounding the Alamo. It provides a small sea of green in the otherwise downtown city area. Only about a block in size, there are comfortable benches to sit and relax and absorb the atmosphere. Surprisingly, there are no vagrants, no homeless, no panhandlers or other scary folk hanging around here. For a major city, San Antonio is blessed with relatively few of these problems. The park is just inhabilited with friendly natives and lots of tourists taking a break from the Alamo.
