Owner description: You can't get more Texas than Pearl beer. This brewery is a beautiful landmark that stands out when driving on the highways around downtown. The limestone structure is now used for events, excercise classes, a culinary institute and more. You can also learn about the haunted stories surrounding it and about what was once the largest brewery in the entire state. You know it's big if it's in Texas and this is the largest of its kind.

Culinary Institute is located here, plus shops. This area is still developing, but will be very nice when done.

Amazing development which needs a little more time on the grill before serving. Once the place it built out, I have no doubt it will be a hub in the revival of Broadway.

We took the Rio Taxi to the brewery expecting to find shops and restaurants to enjoy. There is not any signage there to tell you anything and it's very confusing. There are not many shops or restaurants to explore. This place needs some time to develop as the concept and placement is definitely worthy.

Located on the San Antonio River, the old Pearl Brewery is now a vibrant hub of activity. Home of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) whose focus is Latin cuisine as well as several very good restaurants. You can drive or get there through the tiny lock system on a river barge. Lots going on in the area. you can even see bats take flight from under a bridge the right time of year and walk to the San Antonio Museum of Art long the "museum reach" of the famous RiverWalk. If you continue to walk down the river ( toward downtown) be sure and stop off at the oldest VFW hall in San Antonio. Can't go inside the wonderful main building if you are not a vet but you can fulling enjoy the shaded picnic tables and drink the cheapest cold beer you'll find on the RiverWalk

But it was fun nonetheless. Very unique area and soon to be upscale. Ate at the seafood restaurant there- WOW. Great stores, and a nice hike from the "downtown" area of the riverwalk. We took a shortcut and it was 2.5 miles. Rented the B-cycle bikes on the way back and that made the trip really fun!
