“Beautiful Inn”
Reviewed February 24, 2009

This was my very first trip to San Antonio, and I feel like a really lucked out with this inn! The location is perfect - right next to the Riverwalk and just around the corner from the Alamo. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Warm, fresh baked cookies at 3pm, wine at 5pm. And the rooms! Impeccably clean, comfy beds, high ceilings, exposed brick, wood floors, cozy robes - and a great view of the Riverwalk (the photos on their website are absolutely accurate). Other reviews had noted that the noise was "too much" - I just have to say that it's right in the busiest part of the city, and it's an old, old building with huge, huge windows. Noise is to be expected. However, it really felt like "white noise" to me - and given that the bed was soooooo comfy, I had absolutely no problem sleeping (and I am a light sleeper). Also - parking: while there is no on-site parking, there is a garage literally across the street, and it's cheap ($7.00/24hrs). If you have lots of luggage to unload, there is a small space in front of the inn to pull over - but it is admittedly not very convenient.

Overall though, it was an excellent experience. Definitely felt pampered and an un-pampered price. If I have to go back to San Antonio, I will definitely stay there again!

This bed and breakfast has only a dozen rooms or so and is so unobtrusively set in the middle of the Riverwalk area that it's easily missed. It's in an old 3-story building, that I understand originally was a market with horses kept on the first floor. The restoration is very tasteful--comfortable, without sacrificing its rustic charm. The breakfasts (included) on both of my mornings there were delicious. The staff is most helpful and friendly. A DVD collection of AFI's top 100 is available to guests at no charge. I've never bothered to write a hotel review before, but I use TripAdvisor from time to time and find it useful. Now I want to reciprocate.

Once you stay at the Riverwalk Vista, I promise you won't want to stay anywhere else when you come to visit San Antonio!

We've stayed in many of San Antonio's fine hotels over the many years we've visited the city, such as the Drury chains, the La Quintas, the Marriotts, the Hyatts and even the grand Menger. This hotel blows them all away!

The Riverwalk Vista only has 17 rooms, so you really get the personalized customer service, like you're a first-class customer. They have a small staff who really seem to make the effort to get to know you and make sure your stay is a comfortable one.

The rooms are gorgeous with a touch of Texas rustic to them, very hip, very cool, very unpretentious, simple, clean, classy. The views from the huge windows in the room look out over all the action going on in the middle of the Riverwalk area, but you don't hear it, your room is like a calm oasis in the middle of the chaos.

I promise you, once you stay here once, you won't want to stay anywhere ever again in San Antonio; I know we won't!

Thanks to all the staff at the Riverwalk Vista! My husband and son can't quit talking about two things from their trip there;
how great the Spurs v. Lakers game was and how much they loved that hotel!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Riverwalk Vista for five nights and loved it! The rooms were comfortable - just like home and every day we got homemade cookies and wine. The breakfasts were great as well, although it seemed like it was almost the same hot portion everyday. The location was incredible for the good price - less than a block away from the Riverwalk entrance and about two blocks from the Alamo. The employees also did a great job making recommendations for places to eat - always helpful! We would definitely recommend the place to friends.

We stayed at The Riverwalk Vista for 2 nights in September 2008.

The hotel is well-located, just across the road from steps down to the Riverwalk, at arguably it's most popular section, with lots of bars & restaurants within a 5-minute stroll. It is also close to the Alamo and a 15-minute walk to the Tower of the Americas, so all-in-all it is ideal for a tourist trip.

We stayed in the Romula suite on the 3rd floor and this was very comfortable and well-appointed. The bed was big and comfy, the TV was also large with cable, and the bathroom was of a good size with a very large shower.

As some people have noted, the rooms overlooking the Riverwalk are pretty noisy at night and, as we were there at a weekend, this proved to be true. Probably a factor to consider if you are a light sleeper, especially as the adjacent McDonalds means that the people don't ease off until the early hours.

The inn-keepers we met were very nice and very helpful. We were met with a luggage trolley upon arrival and had a taxi booked for us to get to the airport when we had to leave. Breakfast was mellow and self-service, and there was coffee always available in the breakfast area, as well as for you to brew in your room. A nice touch was the wine & cookies available from late afternoon each day.

In summary, if you are visiting San Antonio then the Riverwalk Vista is a high quality B&B inn/hotel, well located, well appointed and well worth a stay.

  • Liked — Great location and great period feel to the inn, especially the public areas
  • Disliked — The unavoidable noise from the Riverwalk

Beautiful room, calm and quiet public spaces, nice breakfast, terrific location. Comfortable bed, very quiet inn. We loved this place.

The inn is just around the block from the Alamo, right across the street from a stairway access to Riverwalk, but it is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the hectic touristy bustle that is San Antonio.

It was a bit inconvenient not to have parking at the door, but the public parking garage really is just around the corner, maybe 2 minutes walk. We had no trouble loading and unloading in the pullover area in front of the inn.

We had a fridge and coffee maker in our room, very nice for snacks and early coffee.

  • Liked — Calm and peaceful atmosphere, but right in the middle of everthing
  • Disliked — Parking across the street, but it wasn't that bad at all
