This place was fantastic, and we will definitely be back. The Erlichs were amazing hosts and cooked a delicious breakfast. Along with the other travelers we met, they were friendly and knowledgeable. A lovely two-block stroll from the river, easy access from there directly to the Riverwalk and downtown, Alamo, etc. Well positioned to explore the charming, historic King Charles neighborhood and lots of great bars and restaurants. Incredibly clean, well furnished, comfortable, and amazingly charming. We will definitely be back soon!

We found this little B&B to be in the perfect spot for a romantic weekend. It is in the King William district of beautiful old homes. The river walk is just two short blocks away where in 10 minutes you can walk to the more famous parts of the river walk with all the restaurants etc. Great access to downtown! Also there are several great restaurants from right next door to a couple of blocks away. The best thing is Susan and John. Take their advice on side trips and restaurants!

This sweet little place is great for easy access to downtown, Alamo, restaurants, etc. It is almost too close to a couple of restaurants, causing a little noise problem in the late evenings. It is very clean and the food is OK (great coffee!)

Let me say first of all that this is a belated review, as I stayed here nearly 2 years ago...but better late than never!

I would definitely recommend a stay here. The house is gorgeous, and tastefully decorated. We stayed in the desert blossom room, which was spacious enough for the 3 adults in our party. Breakfasts were well prepared and generous in size. The hosts helped us to make the most of our 3 nights in San Antonio, and recommended some great local restaurants.

The location could not be beaten. Very close to the sights of San Antonio, but on a nice quiet street. We enjoyed looking roung the historic streets and beautiful houses. There is also an excellent cafe over the road (can't remember the name) which is good for lunchtime.

We really enjoyed our stay here, and would not hesitate to recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the Gardenia Inn. John and Susan are wonderful and provided excellent dining and sightseeing suggestions. Delicious breakfast! It's a 10-15 minute walk to the heart of the River Walk along the river. We loved staying in the charming neighborhood yet so close to all of the activity. We were in the Lily Room. It has a very small bathroom. If that is a problem for you, I would suggest one of the other rooms. Would highly recommend this B&B.

Three friends from Canada and the US arbitrarilyy chose San Antonio for a place to have our annual get-together. My assignment was to find the place and I spent much time purusing all the hotels, motels, and B&B's on-line, reading hundreds of reviews. Finally decided on the Gardenia Inn and we were delighted. We stayed in the Desert Bloom room on the full third floor which was just like our own little cozy apartment. Everything was beautiful, the beds extremely comfortable, towels full and lush, and the whole house was spotless! John and Susan were so helpful and their breakfasts for five days were all different and delicious and beautiful to see. The location is less than half a block from a very user-friendly trolley so we rode everywhere for pennies and with ease. We also elected to walk some days and that was an easy access to everything we wanted to see, too. The Inn is in the beautiful King William district so walking "home" was a lovely walk.
I would recommend this B&B without qualification, and we all agreed our stay in San Antonio was worth it just to stay in this beautiful home. We also found San Antonio the friendliest city we've visited yet. It's a great place -- both the Inn, and San Antonio.

We've been to Gardenia Inn twice and have had a wonderful experience both times. John and Susan are very accommodating, the breakfasts are delicious, filling, and healthy, and the atmosphere is very relaxing and welcoming. The King William area is far enough away from the Riverwalk to avoid the hustle and bustle and we always walk to try to exercise away a good dinner downtown - it is a good walk but not too far. Also, we highly recommend the Lavender Room - very comfortable and my wife is crazy about the claw foot tub - she says it is the best bathing she has ever experienced. I did not rate everything perfectly recognizing that it is an old house without all the amenities one might find at a new hotel and that there are other nice places to stay closer to the Riverwalk. However, I feel that you cannot go wrong and are sure to have a relaxing and enjoyable evening at Gardenia Inn.
