This one of my favorite Marriott hotels. The beds are Simmons Beautyrest pillow-top mattresses, so the quality of sleep is great. The service by the staff is great. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Every time I go to SA, this where I stay. It is also close to La Cantera for shopping and Six Flags. This is a five star hotel. Rooms are spacious and quiet.

We stayed for two nights in January 2014. Reception and check in were great. We stayed on the tenth floor overlooking the plaza area, particularly nice at night. The room was well appointed, however the extra long drapes were coming off the drapery rod, which created a problem at night as we could not completely block out the lights from outside. Also, one of the drapery cord holders was broken. An "Autograph, Posh Hotel" should have noticed and fixed these as a matter of daily business.
We would say that the room was not soundproof and noise carried over from across the hall from inside the room. This was disturbing at 12:30 am. After waiting for 30 minutes, we finally called the front desk and they told us that if it continued for another 15 minutes, call back. Someone did visit the floor and request quieter conversations.
The on site parking is a joke - shared with the apartments and a very long walk!! The website needs to explain this situation and suggest that you valet park for "only" $25,00 extra per day, plus tips. This situation was a downer for us.
The happy hour was OK for us, however the gin and tonic seemed to be a gin and club soda. The second one was the same. Probably the special button on the nozzle was not programmed or not functioning correctly.
There is very limited information in the room about the facility.
The plus for us was the location and scenery - very Italian village type surroundings. We probably will try another location next time.

Spent a short weekend at the Eilan Hotel & Resort in San Antonio with my family of four. The hotel lobby and common areas
are remarkably kept and absolutely gorgeous. The service at the front desk was great, especially Kimberly, who was always extremely polite and helpful. The spa and gym facilities are top notch. We did not dine at the hotel, but enjoyed our room and all the amenities offered within the hotel. The rooms are definitely comfortable and have everything you would expect to have in a hotel room. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because I did notice the floors and baseboards in our room had an accumulation of dust and hair from previous guests. Having said that, would I return to the Eilan? Most certainly!!

The Eilan can certainly be called posh even if the description is not in vogue. We have chosen this property two years in a row for our New Years destination and by "almost" anyone's definition this hotel is clearly four stars or more. I've read the negative reviews and must say that this property had a rough start. There were some glitches on our first stay in 2012. The previous ownership either had no experience running a four star resort, was in financial or maybe both. Now part of the Marriott Autograph Collection we didn't experience anything other than outstanding service and some of the strange issues with the property itself seem to have been addressed. Kimberly at the front desk has assisted us on both trips and is the gold standard of a hotel employee. Truly stellar.

Admittedly there are some rooms with very strange floor plans but this visit we had a room facing north which looks over the "village" below, I-10 and a panorama of the hill country. If you face south you will overlook the pool, parking and a territorial view. The rooms are very well appointed with LG flat screens and beautiful bathrooms with walk in showers. It takes a few minutes to get over the learning curve of the kind of strange lighting switching. There is a master switch at the front door which turns off all lights including the bathroom. Then there are 4 (count em) light switches just for the bath itself. On top of that there is a volume control for speakers that play the TV audio in the bathroom only. A very odd feature that kind of grew on me as I listened to the news while I was in the shower. I must say that one feature that never grew on me was the separate door on the commode room that was behind the main bath door. Some first year architectural student must has thought this was brilliant when in fact it was unnecessary and a pain in the butt (no pun intended). The room was also equipped with a nice Keurig pod coffee machine and came with different flavored coffee and tea.

The pool(s) are on par with nicer Las Vegas pools although we have only stayed here when it was too cold to use them. One negative review noted that the main pool is shared with the tenants that are part of the village although there are separate pools that are clearly for the apartments. We plan a return trip this summer but if in fact this is true will probably stay elsewhere.

Wi-fi is free, TV is not the LodgeNet ups sell system which I greatly appreciate and if you self park the parking is free as well. These are big perks which can add up.

One last thing. Ask for a room away from the housekeeping rooms which the architect placed in the middle of the hallways. Probably the same kid that put huge doors on the commode rooms. In any event, if you like sleeping in that probably won't happen if you're near one of the housekeeping rooms because the staff is in and out all morning long letting the behemoth doors slam behind them.

We stayed at Eilan December 22nd - 24th. Self-parking is not a realistic option because of the distance - include extra $25 + tips for in-outs in the daily room charges. Front desk seemed to be in a training mode with one person at the computer and two others watching (not functional). We reserved the largest room available, which is a family suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms for our family of three. There were visible stains on the very nice furniture in the living room, and a large stain on the carpet in the master bedroom. Bathroom scale and Keurig coffee maker did not work on the first night. We also found a few hairs on the sheets and bathroom floors upon arrival. It was very obvious housekeeping did not vacuum or change the sheets on the second day of our stay, either. There is no on-site gift shop. A very small cafe / store is shared with the apartment complex; selections are limited. On the day we visited, there was no bottled water. Lobby was always empty and we received no greetings coming or going. Overall, not a pleasant experience.

This Marriott AC Collection boutique hotel is just a stone throw away from Six Flag Fiesta. It is practically next door to the larger Westin La Cantera Resort up the hill. It offers valet and free self-park but the free lot is about 10-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel has great décor with chandelier and marble columns/floors. Check-in was slow around 5p with only one front-desk employee while there was a line of guests waiting to be helped. There was definitely not enough staffing. We were given a room on 7th Floor overlooking the courtyard. The room has a touch of the classic Ritz Carlton guestroom along with iPod dock, marble bathroom and K-cup coffee maker. As Ritz Carlton Gold, we were given free breakfast at Sustenio, It's not your typical continental breakfast. We were told to pick anything we like, so we picked the French toast, fruit plate and poached egg with bison meat. All are very tasty with friendly service. We have no noise issue during our stay.

We stayed here one night as a get away, and it is a beautiful property. Generally a great facility, but it was the lack of attention to detail that prevented it from getting 5 stars.

Pros:
-Well appointed rooms (42" TV, nice bath robes, extremely comfortable bed, safe, mini fridge, desk)
-Incredible fitness facility (weight lifting area exceeded most fitness facilities at other hotels, lap pool below fitness area)
-Luxurious decor

Cons
-Rooms had limited soundproofing (could hear the chair moved in the room next door)
-Attention to detail (jacuzzi had three hair balls sitting on its edge, the fitness center had no towels and no attendant while we there for an hour)
-Limited on site activities - however, there is plenty of shopping and eating nearby at La Cantera and the Rim.

I would stay there again. However, Marriott needs to put a little more effort to make this a "Autograph Collection" property.
