If you're tired of staying in chain hotels, this place offers a great alternative. It's a group of historic buildings that surround a garden. My room was a suite. The furniture is worn, The carpet by my bed was really worn, but it's clean. Service was great. The breakfast is not good. Cold store bought muffin, fresh fruit salad. They can do better than that!

The Arbor House is the place to stay for a clean comfortable and convenient location in San Antonio, Texas. This was our 2nd time visiting San Antonio and staying at the Arbor House. We do not want to stay anywhere else. Such friendly and accommodating staff. If they can, they will. The rooms are perfect, tastefully decorated and the grounds are immaculate.

Room Tip: Downstairs is larger with a kitchenette. Upstairs the bathroom may be in the bedroom so if sharing with a friend, keep that in mind. A basket with bagels, muffins, juice, fruit cup, cream cheese, and butter is delivered to the door at 8 am. there is a coffee pot, fridge & microwave in every room. The upstairs flat has a balcony that can be reached by going out a large floor to ceiling window.

Stayed in the Honeymoon suite for fun. The rooms are a bit outdated, but full
of character and eclectic decor. Room and sheets were clean. Loved the balcony and outdoor sitting area. Mattress was very comfortable, and the continental breakfast surpassed expectations. Jacuzzi garden tub was functioning with ample hot water for shower and bath. Add in the free parking and their friendly owners/staff, and it is overall a great place to stay!!!

Honeymoon suite is on 2nd floor. Walking around I could hear the floor creak a bit. I bet that may be a complaint they get downstairs since it is an older house. I'll return for sure, but I'll always try to stay in a second floor room.

Why stay in a high-rise hotel that could be located anywhere when you can stay nearby in a charming Victorian building that reflects old San Antonio? I loved this little complex of restored houses right in the middle of town--very clean, friendly, with a quiet courtyard where you can sit and relax after walking around the city. Each suite is different, of course, and all of the creature comforts are here, including a mini-fridge and microwave. Very nice staff who are eager to help orient you, too.

We have visited San Antonio many times, but this was our best trip even though I was stuck in a conference. We had a wonderful two room suite within walking distance of the river walk, King Williams District and the convention center! Great continental breakfast and wonderful local food nearby. (The first trip to SA where I did not eat on the river walk). This is where we plan to stay from now on.
