We have been eating at Mama's Cafe since the 1970s
and have never had a bad meal. Often we left with full tummies and a little guilt, but that not too bad for traditional Texas country comfort food.
We had their breakfast on a Sunday. If you arrive before 10 AM, it shouldn't be too crowded.
The hostess was new, and she wanted to seat us
somewhere we didn't. So we just waited for her to return and got the right table.
My BW had the omelet. It was enormous, and contained ham, cheese, onions, and mushrooms. It was delicious and done just right. It came with tasty grits and rye toast.
I'm addicted to Huevos Hoffbrau. That breakfast dish was named after another Mama's on San Pedro which is now closed.
Huevos Hoffbrau has eggs scrambled with tortilla chips, onions, and peppers covered with queso. This is one of my long time favorites.
This came with great home fries and frijoles that a hint of lard, very old school. The soft corn tortillas were served with butter.
Service was amazingly swift and friendly.
Points for long term consistent quality, service, and taste applied here.
Mama's Cafe lots of yummy food.
