Wow I can't believe this place hasn't received more reviews on TA. This was my second visit. I actually found out about it from one of the Tour guides on another tour. You can buy a ticket for the audio tour of the Alamo and a visit to the History Shop which is located across the street from the Alamo or you can pay like $3 to just go into the History Shop. I would suggest going to see the diorama at the History Shop first and then taking the tour of the Alamo since there is a great presentation narrated by Phil Collins who is an Alamo buff. It really gives you a sense of the importance of the place and why they fought the battle. They also have cool items in the store that are all for sale.
Don't miss going here.

For $3 ticket we enjoyed short visit and narrated diorama of the Alamo battle. Maps and artifacts. Across the street from Alamo entrance.

Before going into the Alamo you must go hear. You will see a model of the Alamo and a voice presentation by Phil Collins, the staff is wonderful and will answer all your questions. This model shows you the true size of the Alamo, that most people don't understand.

You can be easily disappointed by the Alamo. The Chapel, which most people think of as "The Alamo" is not very impressive, and little of the battle took place there. The real battle took place at the fortress walls surrounding the chapel, and they no longer exist.

Just across the street from the Alamo, for $3 you can see a pretty cool model of the Alamo worth checking out. And there's a narration of the battle by none other the Phil Collins, who is a major Alamo buff and paid for the model to be moved there.

It's great to see how the Alamo looked at the time of the battle, and to see things that the history shop excavated from below the shop itself. Their findings are nicely displayed through a glass floor.

What's missing from the model are the soldiers. For that you MUST see the smaller model of the actual battle in the gift shop. That model is really amazing and has the entire battle ground along with all the Texian & Mexican soldiers.

If you're really interested in Alamo history, be sure to check out the exhibits around the site. You CAN find good, interesting Alamo history if you look for it.
