We really enjoyed a great stay in Dec 2009. Rooms were as expected and were comfortable. Bathrooms were on the small side but did the job. Free safe parking was a huge plus and the location worked well for us. There were some different breakfast dishes each day and although not huge in choice, worked very well. The all day coffee station at the main entrance was brillant and the cookies and pink lemonade in the evening were very welcome. Some areas of the hotel could do with a little visual upgrading and AC could be quieter. We did not get to use the pool as it was being painted during our visit. Overall we felt that for the price, this hotel was a great option. We will be back!

I spent 3 nights at the Hampton Inn Downtown Riverwalk. First, it's a bit of hike to the River Walk. At least 3-4 blocks. My room, with a King bed was comfortable, flat screen TV. The bathroom appeared to be recently renovated. Unfortunately when they re-did the shower, in order to get the full effect of the shower head -- the grab bar was in the way. Those kind of design issues hurt the place. The "hot breakfast" was three items -- do it yourself waffles; and two "hot" items in a chafing dish. Usually some kind of egg product and either a meat or potatoes. All processed. Did I eat it -- yes. But if you wanted a real breakfast, you needed to hike to the Denny's down the road. There was plenty of other stuff -- cold cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, breads and bagels for toasting. But what do you expect for "free". The parking was ample and free. And the rates were considerably cheaper than the big names near the convention center or along the River Walk. Would I stay there again -- if I was on a budget, yes. But if I really wanted to enjoy the River Walk -- probably not.

The Hampton San Antonio downtown is a relatively old Hampton Inn. The rooms small and the bathrooms are tiny. Room decoration seems rather dated and the climate control is noisy. The rates at this hotel seem to swing quite a bit. The lobby is small but comfortable. They provide cookies in the evening. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rooms have limited desk space, free internet, and acceptably decorated. The beds were comfortable. The room has nice flat screen TV's. The great thing about this location (when the price is reasonable) is that you get free parking. that is very unusual in downtown San Antonio. Climate Control is acceptable and you can leave the blower motor on for white noise.

The only negative of the room was that the curtains did not do a sufficient job of blocking light out of the rooms.

They have a small . The "business center" is a bit weak with only one PC and printer in the lobby, but there never seemed to be a horrible wait. The pool looked typical for a small limited service hotel.

The included breakfast in the morning is typical Hampton. Cut fruit, pastries, "hockey puck" eggs or omelets biscuits, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee. They also have the typical Hampton Grab and Go bags. (Muffin, water, fruit, and cereal bar.)

You have all of the dining and entertainment options of the San Antonio Riverwalk a safe five minute walk away! When the prices are reasonable this is a great option. Otherwise I would consider the Residence Inn across the street for a nicer room and amenities. (though you pay for parking)

I choose to stay here so I can go running on the extended parts of the riverwalk as well as enjoy walking on the riverwalk.

Fine Hampton Inn with nothing to boast about except easy walking distance to River Walk and FREE PARKING! (It's impossible to find free parking anywhere near downtown San Antonio.

Stayed here for 3 nights attending a conference at the convention center, less than a 10 minute walk away. This is not the newest Hampton Inn, but for me I found it very comfortable (extremely comfortable bed too), convenient, much more affordable than other downtown hotels of similar quality, one of the only ones that offers free parking and free wifi, and the staff, from front desk to housekeeping, all very helpful and friendly.

Sure, it may be a bit worn around the edges, but it's clean, safe and completely met my needs - and I am quite a picky traveler.

Be sure to ask for a room away from the freeway - I got a room on the top floor away from the highway with a great view of downtown and the Alamo Dome.
