“Great funky hotel!”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

Great hotel, funky décor in lobby, rooms were comfortable and staff was wonderful! It is far from retail/restaurants on the riverwalk, it is VERY close to downtown on the street! The hotel bar has really great prices and happy hour!

Room Tip: If you can, park across the street at a parking meter, much cheaper than paying the $18 hotel parkin...

The ETR is the real deal. It's a motor lodge. It is not modern or luxe in any way, but it is a great place to stay if you want to be near the riverwalk and are on a tight budget. I say NEAR the riverwalk, since it is a good hike to the central riverwalk area with shops and restaurants. However, the trolley does stop right outside the motel. Parking is pricey and uncovered, but the breakfast buffet is a great deal with good service and lots of options. The hallways are old and worn, but the rooms are clean and fairly well updated. The bathroom is small with a pedestal sink -- no counter space. The staff was courteous and helpful. Overall, a good value!

Friendly staff, easy check in. Updated room was very comfortable, quiet and clean. Pillows were extremely soft...but stacking three under my head worked. Rested well after flying from PA to Dallas followed by the drive to San Antonio. Just an observation...the toilet is so low-you feel like you are going to land on the floor then getting up is difficult.

This hotel is located along the Museum Reach of the Riverwalk. Location ok, nice lobby, neat bedroom. I enjoyed watching the fireworks at Tower of America which was a distance across the hotel then I enjoyed the live music in the bar. I liked it because it gives people who stay the option to dine in in their restaurant or to buy at their cozy snack bar.

Room Tip: I stayed at Rm 240.

This hotel was nice. It definitly did the trick for our stay and we enjoyed it! I personally didnt enjoy how loud the cleaning ladies were banging things around at 7am and knocking on our door every 30 mins for us to leave so they could clean...or how they didnt replace the big towels to dry your body with...however all together this hotel was a nice place to stay. I would recommend the hotel to provide a safe in the room as well. All together it was a very close walk to the riverwalk and the staff was very helpful and friendly at the front desk.

We only stayed one night for New Year's Eve. It's a dated property. But, everything was clean and in working order. Will likely return, great view from our room in #348 and our friends in #352 could also see Riverwalk and downtown.

We booked this hotel through an Expedia "mystery" room special. We booked two rooms, but they only received one, so we had to wait a long time for them to sort that out. The front desk seemed bothered that we were causing them so much trouble, even though we had the confirmation showing there were two rooms booked. The bathroom was small and cramped--we only had one towel and my nice warm morning shower was at best tepid. Look elsewhere for budget accommodations.

Room Tip: Don't go
