The cuisine is refreshingly French in a Mexican food town. I have enjoyed meals there several times and have also hosted a private party for 30 people. The service is attentive and prices reasonable.

I went to the Olmos Park Bistro today with friends for Sunday Brunch. The word is out that the Eggs Benedict are devine, and it is true. I ordered mine medium, and they were cooked to perfection, which is unusual. The french fries were also very nice. My companions had Eggs Benedict with lobster sauce, and another had the skirt steak. Everyone was happy with their choice. The champagne was a lovely touch. The coffee was delicious. Friends who sat behind us recommended the sliced tomato salad, and the apple tart. I have had onion soup there before and found it to be very tastey. I met the chef, Laurent Rea. He has a great reputation, and is a very likeable young man with a gentle smile. A special treat on Sunday was the music of charming guitarist James Michael Westbay. He is talented, subtle, has a great selection of songs. Best of all, his music does not blast you out of the room or interfere with the conversation in any way. He spoke with us on his break, and is interesting and well traveled, as well as a marvelous guitarist. We had such a good time that we were there for almost three hours, enjoying the food and the conversation. The service was excellent and unobtrusive.

This was our second visit to the Olmos Park Bistro and we enjoyed the first so much, this was a birthday treat.
We got off to a great start and loved the appetizer so much we ordered a second round of the selected Canadian oysters.
The grilled shrimp rosemary were very good on our first visit, and they were just as good this time, nicely seasoned without an overpowering grilled taste. The Israeli couscous was a nice counterpoint with a grainy texture.
The onglet a l'echalotte, hanger steak, was cooked just right, flavorful and moist.
The tapioca pudding with fruit was a light, sweet finish to a perfect summer meal.

What a delight this restaurant is! The French cuisine is authentic, consistent, reasonably-priced, well-presented and delicious. One of the owners, a native of France and formerly of L'Etoile( a beloved French restaurant that closed a few years ago), is ever-present and dedicated to the success of Bistro Olmos Park. The chef, also from France, is as passionate about creating genuinely French dishes as the owners. We have ordered several items on repeat visits to repeat the pleasure and have found each dish to be exactly as we had remembered and enjoyed them.

The ambiance is certainly attractive but not yet changed frm the Italian restaurant that had been in this space immediately before Bistro Olmos Park. No doubt the owners will make a few changes to make the atmosphere more obviously French as they succeed with the more important aspects--great food, great service, and warm hospitality.

If TripAdvisor asked for grades, this restaurant would get an A+.
