Home2 Suites by Hilton San Antonio Downtown - Riverwalk
Ranked #33 of 358 Hotels in San Antonio
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 17, 2012

We recently went to San Antonio to have a family gathering and all of the family stayed at the Home2 Suites. To our surprise it was really a great stay. The building itself is a very old downtown building but once you walk into the lobby the transformation is quite different. It's a very nice modern warm interior with a lot of nice touches. The rooms too are very large with kitchen and a lot of very well used space. We slept very well even though we're in the heart of downtown. Not as much noise as I thought there would be. The kids played in the small pool and I got to get on the treadmill for a quick work out. Both the pool and the work-out rooms were small but worked out great. The pool is about the size of two hot-tubs so don't expect to get in there for some lap swimming. The hotel is set a little away from the Riverwalk but close enough for anyone to walk to. Maybe a 5 minute walk at most. Overall the location is great. It's very close to the theater, the Childrens Museum and the Riverwalk. Parking wasn't that convenient since we didn't use the valet. We had to park at a public garage but it actually was very close and more reasonable than the valet. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: They said the corner rooms are bigger for the same price. Ask the person at the front when you check...

We were so pleased to stumble upon such a great place in such a great location in San Antonio. The rooms were way beyond our expectations. Really good sized with kitchenettes and nice walk in shower. Very contemporary, clean and great bed!
Just a block away from stairs down to River Walk. Only minutes to the Alamo. Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable convenient location near the main attractions.
Morning breakfast and coffee isn't great but there is a Starbucks just a block away and also another breakfast spot just a half a block away that served nice egg dishes and muffins, etc. We were on the 6th floor. It can be a little noisy but not horrible. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.
Well done Hilton!!!

We called ahead and the manager Patrick personally spoke to us to answer all of our questions regarding accommodations and proximity to highlights. But he took extra time to tell us some history of the building and the "green" approach they had toward everything. Even in the heart of the city this renovated building had an indoor salt water pool! Valet and self parking are available but the real surprise were the rooms! They were ginormous!! And had full kitchens including dishwashers and were beautifully done in a very modern decor. The beds were heaven, which is usually my primary issue and I had to ask about the sheets because I've never felt any so soft. Breakfast was offered every morning although I admit we slept through. But the riverwalk is so close we had so much food to eat we probably couldn't had eaten any more. Overall a gorgeous, contemporary hotel with homey benefits. Love to stay there again. Fantastic staff. Thank you Patrick for luring us to your hotel

This hotel was exactly what someone needs when staying a few days in San Antonio. It is within walking distance to everything! Do not let Valet $ scare you off. If you pass the hotel and turn left on the next light there is a church parking lot for $8 a day. You can even find some for $5. The area was very safe, we walked around until about 12 at night. Very convenient Walgreen's right across the street. I loved that it was just a little ways from the majority of the traffic flow. Two short blocks and you are at the river walk. We walked as far as Hemisphere Park at about 11pm and had no issues. The room was amazing. It is like a little condo. We stayed here for three days then drove to Corpus and stayed in a suite and felt cramped. I love that it is a GREEN hotel! if they had more of them around we would stay with them EVERYTIME!

Stayed for 5 nights on the top floor. Great view of surrounding area. This property is extremely close to the Riverwalk, the official 'two blocks" away is true but the blocks are very short so it only takes about 2 minutes. Walk to the convention center takes about 10-15 minutes tops and seems very safe. Room is clean and new. Daily housekeeping is not extensive (as this is an extended stay hotel). Room is very large and would be great for families with kids as there is a lot of space and the kitchen. Kitchen has dishwasher, large microwave, sink, full fridge/freezer. Info on the in room flyer indicates they will bring you an induction burner and pots if you want to do stove-top cooking. If you need hair conditioner bring it along. Neutrogena shampoo soap and body wash provided. Walgreens across the street is open late.

Staff very friendly and eager to please.
Few small issues - phone dialout problem, hairdryer was missing, checkout time contraversial, but staff eager to resolve all of these promptly so didn't affect the quality of stay.

Of note this isn't a luxury hotel - there is no spa or restaurant nor extensive facilities, but certainly above average and excellent value for the very inexpensive price paid. Will recommend to others.

Room Tip: high floor had nice view

I took a group of 36 College Students to San Antonio for Thanksgiving and we spend 5 nights there. This hotel, while not on the River Walk, was wonderful. They were easy to work with. My wife and I took our 2 small children as well. We were located 2 short blocks from the closest Riverwalk entrance....not a problem at all. The Hotel is also located beside a Trolley stop so if you can't walk well the Trolley is just outside the door. The trolley will take you to all of the tourist areas....Market Square, Alama, La Villata, etc....for $ 1.10.
The hotel breakfasts were tasty and they rotated offering daily. The indoor pool, while a bit small, is the only indoor pool in downtown.

As a note, the Childrens Museum was across the street and easy to access.

We had a wonderful time there and would reccomend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: The rooms that end in '11' are a unique layout that we enjoyed. The rooms that ended in ...

I stayed here for a few days while visiting family and loved it. Great location - it's near the Riverwalk, Alamo, and lots of shops, restaurants and other attractions. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and eco-friendly, which I loved. The service was great too. The staff was kind and accommodating and seemed to really care about your comfort. Can't go wrong with this place!
