“Perfect location!”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

We didn't know when we booked just how close we would be to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. We literally walked out the back door of the hotel, through their parking lot, crossed the street and we were at the Alamo, not to mention the River Center mall across the stree). Another block, and it was the Riverwalk. We loved this location. We always try to stay at Springhill Suites, and this experience solidifies our choice. The location is perfect, the staff are outstanding, and the rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfast was a little above average for these properties. For being in the middle of it all, it's also a quiet hotel.
We arrived a day before New Year's Eve, not knowing about the big bash they have at Hemisfaire Park each year. We were able to walk there and enjoy the outing, then return to the hotel and watch the fireworks from the front of the hotel without having to be in the crowds. It was great! The valet staff are exceptional. Although you have to pay $21 a day for valet parking, it was well worth it. Whenever we needed our car, we just texted the valet and our car was waiting by the time we got downstairs.
If you are planning a trip to San Antonio and want to be in the middle of it all, this is a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Views of the Riverwalk/Alamo area are best from the back side of the hotel.

We stayed at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott on Richland Hills Drive near Sea World in San Antonio over New Year.

This is an awesome hotel - very nice, clean, and thoughtfully set-up rooms. The staff were also friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. And the swimming pool was WARM and wonderful for the kids.

This is a hotel that feels good to hangout at if one needed a low key day during a long road trip.

Only negative to an otherwise perfect stay was the noise coming through the walls - the rooms could be better sound-proofed.

Very nice property. Folks at the front desk were welcoming and polite. Rooms are nice. Love the concept of separating the shower from the toilet. The interior doors are all sliding and ours came off the track. This was a sign...coffee maker was broken, wifi was not accessible. Then there was the breakfast Nazi. She was brutal. No "pardon me" just physically muscled her way in front of you. Not sure why because the area was a complete disaster. Not a single trash bin was emptied. Discarded food on tables and counters. No liquids - milk, coffee, juice. The shelf was bare and the attendant had no intention of remedying this issue. She was only interested in muscling her way through you to move bread around (or something, I couldn't quite tell). I would have rated this property higher if it wasn't for the awful awful way the breakfast was handled. (Even 90 minutes after breakfast the area was still dirty)

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staffs are friendly and courteous. The room is clean, bright and airy. Bedding is very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. Location is excellent, near the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Note: $21 valet parking. We highly recommend this sweet suite hotel!

This was my second staying at this hotel on a business trip. It is worth reviewing a hotel for the second time so you can confirm or change opinions formed on the first stay.
What changed my opinion on this second revision is the reception: the staff are just polite, but not friendly (as I had found the first staying at).
The rest of my opinion I just confirmed on this second stay:
- "Brand new" facilities
- Large rooms and amazing quality of sleep
- Common areas are good (pool, gym, room for computers, etc)
- Continental breakfast
- Valet parking (21 USD daily)

Next year I will be staying again on this hotel.

The rooms are very spacious, beds and pillows are very comfortable, walk-inn closet. The room also have a little area with refrigerator and microwave. Nice sitting area with a working desk.
The breakfast is ok oatmeal, scramble egs, pancakes, cereal, yogurt. Valet parking is a little expensive $21.00 a night.

This hotel is your typical Springhill Suites, so there are no surprises there. It is new, clean, and well run. The breakfast was especially good—lots of fruit, eggs and other healthy goodies plus delicious breads if you're into comfort.

But, this is San Antonio, and if you want that city's flavor, this hotel could be a disappointment. It is in an asphalt jungle—parking lots and old buildings line the road between it and the riverwalk. And that road has a couple of intersections that feel somewhere between plain tricky and seriously unsafe. There are no restaurants close by. And, while I generally felt safe alone in that walk at night, I was always glad when it was over.

The hotel is right behind the Alamo--about two blocks from it. Ugly blocks again, though.

And room service still needs a bit more training. They didn't refill my shampoo or makeup remover, and there was a long black hair next to my bed. I have short blond hair.

If you want the real San Antonio experience, find someplace closer to the riverwalk.

Room Tip: If you want a view at all, ask to be on the city side. Otherwise you will face a freeway. Get a hi...
