Nice balcony location for a drink above the river. Good drink menu and friendly service. They have a small happy hour menu option in February with a discount on drinks although that wasn't clearly advertised but a nice surprise. Service was a bit slow this day but would give it another try for the location, menu & atmosphere.

We went here on a Monday night and it was jammed - this was probably because it was Spring Break, however, and it may not be like this normally. We really liked the atmosphere - the bar is dark, quirky, has a very small balcony overlooking the river, the longest wooden bar in Texas (apparently) and intimate booths. Service was friendly, cocktails were imaginative and reasonably priced. We also chose to eat and both had the salmon. This was disappointing - nice piece of salmon, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but the sauce was overly rich and cloying and lacked any kind of carb to add some balance. The sides options were limited, also. It must be said, though, that the burgers looked great and the banana nut loaf ice cream was excellent, so we may have just been unlucky.

Old and historick. First tavern to open after prohibition, tall tin ceilings, tables, booths, booths, and big long bar. Live music, street entrance and river-side entrance. Poor lighting...like small portable bare lightbulbs that cause your pupils to contract so you cant see your guests.
The menu is good. Ceviche was great and burger's are favorites including jalapeno burger. This has become a favorite restaurant by the guys from work as it has an expansive tap beer for those who like that.
The place is great - try it. Oh...prices are good for a Riverwalk location.

Lunch on the beautiful RiverWalk with friends! We sat outside on the balcony and enjoyed the great food and watched the people and boats go by. The food was great and the service was too.

We visited one Friday, when it was fairly busy but not packed. We had to wait a little while to get menus but unlike other reviewers our drinks and food arrived fairly quickly.
We had a couple of cocktails and a selections of appetisers to share between us. We really enjoyed the tacos and the chalupitas, both were very tasty and reasonable size portions for the size.
I liked the fact that even though it was on the river walk, you had to walk up a flight of stairs to get into the restaurant, I think this must have been missed by a number of tourists and therefore the atmosphere wasn't as chaotic as other places. Plus we Liked the decor, old fashioned and comforting!
