When it comes to choosing the best Riverwalk bars to spend your time, atmosphere certainly matters. Our legendary establishment is the quintessential downtown bar: dark, cool, redolent with history, and serving cold beer, swanky cocktails, and excellent food. Don't believe us? Step right up and sink your teeth into some handmade SA comfort food including Organic Sirloin Burgers, Crispy Chile Salted Fries, Big Red Empanadas, and Fried Apple Pie with Bourbon Carmel Sauce made from scratch! Now that you trust us a bit more....feel free to stay a while and enjoy hand crafted cocktails using the best of spirits and freshest of juices from the Margarita to the Moscow Mule. Beer lovers, indulge with over 10 Texas/regional brews on tap and enjoy the ice cold bottled beers you love.

What an amazing find the Esquire Tavern is! The building which fronts on East Commerce Street is not at all inviting. However, once inside it's a completely different story. We had some of the best cocktails made by fun and professional bartenders.

The menu while not big, offers great variety - and the value is hard to beat.

Stopped by this bar for a drink based on some reviews in Trip Advisor. I wish we had not already eaten because I would have loved to eat there. This is one of the coolest bars - live music, interesting drinks, great nostalgia. Loved it.

Very sexy, dimly lit little place. Food was incredible! I thought my Hangar steak sandwich was great but then I tried the husbands Empanada and discovered I made a mistake! The empanada was spicy and WONDERFUL! Loved the deviled eggs and the Jicama salad was a great breakup to my sandwich. Will definitely return!

Loved this place. Trying to find something non chain, non tourist and with great service is getting difficult on the river. Happy hour on the balcony consuming those amazing deviled eggs, green eggs and ham while enjoying the view. Perfect evening, our server gave great suggestions, was timely and made sure we were cared for. Next time in San Antonio we will be back. Thanks.

Esquire Tavern from the outside looks like a hole in the wall joint. It IS old, however, the food, service, and bar offerings are top notch. The food is primarily organic. You can't beat that for excellent burgers. The establishment is original from the time of prohibition so it is dark inside but the food will warm your belly! I was somewhat skeptical at first, but all the dishes are tastefully prepared and very good. It is a super place for a beer and burger, super casual dining. This restaurant was a great surprise and I would definitely go back.
