Description: No one really knows who invented barbeque. In America, it probably originated during the cattle drives of the 1800s, as chuck wagon cooks tried to tenderize inexpensive cuts of meat for the trail drivers. But the Chinese could lay claim to having a form of BBQ long before America was discovered, as well as the Romans and the Greeks. We'll never know who really invented it. That brings us to Q Kitchen | Bar, one of the most innovative restaurants on the River Walk. We've spent quite a bit of time searching out the globe's best BBQ and brought their recipes back to our San Antonio barbeque restaurant. We've added a dash of excitement and fun to the mix, by creating an "interactive kitchen" in the dining area that lets you see how we make our barbeque. Tempted by European style rotisserie barbeque? Go for it. And as for smoked meats...well...one glance at the menu will tell you how serious we are about that. By the way, feel free to talk to our chefs while they cook. You just might get them to divulge some of our secrets. So welcome to Q Kitchen | Bar: the pursuit of the ultimate barbeque. We've done all the hard work. You just need to sit back and enjoy. Let the journey begin.

“Fine and Satisfying Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013

We really enjoyed the breakfast spread at Q at the Hyatt today. One impressive touch was the fruit serving section. Strawberries, melon and pineapple were all in chilled *drawers,* closed off to everyone until you pull out a drawer and retrieve the yummy fruits.

Great omelets, made to order and perfectly creamy oatmeal. Maybe the best part was Jill, our wise and mature server. She was a delight in checking in on us, AND telling us good tips about her homeland of New Zealand. As I said to my wife as we left, "What a nice beginning to the day."

So-so on the pastries, a little dry--but the rest stole the show. Will definitely stop in again when we're back in SAT.

“Great Place for Snack and Drink”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

I read about the happy hour at Q and decided to take a break fromthe Riverwalk for an afternoon drink and snack. The happy hour specials are very good. Select draft beers were $1 and house wine was $2. Chips and salsa was $1 and chicken or beef brisket soft tacos were $2. The chips were average, but the tacos were excellent! Beside this, the atmosphere here is very nice. We sat a a high table far above the Riverwalk, but could see down thourgh the wall of glass. It was cold that day so it was nice to warm up in the bar and realx while wathcing the folks stroll the Riverwalk. If you are wanting to take a break,or just get some tasty tacos, I recommend stopping here. The view and happy hour specials can't be beat.

“Decent drinks and atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

My husband and I stopped here to kick off our New Years celebration. The drinks were good but there was a limited selection of food. We shared the chicken nachos and they were decent but there was little chicken on it. The waitress was nice and it was fun to people watch but probably won't stop in here again.

“Cardboard.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

This place is located in a hotel, the Hyatt, on the Riverwalk. Our first clue that this might not be a great idea was that there were hardly anyone eating here, on Friday evening. My husband and I both ordered Texas dry rub ribs, as we had heard this was the best thing to pick while in Texas. I will have to say, no. Cardboard would have tasted the same. Sides were the same way. And why did the waitstaff appear like they were surprised to see us? Weird. Obviously, we made a mistake on where to eat good Texas BBQ, as this was not it.

“Delicious brisket sandwich”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

I grabbed lunch at the Q during a visit to San Antonio for a conference. It was conveniently located in the atrium of the Hyatt Regency, in the heart of downtown. The restaurant was very clean and was rather empty at high noon. We were seated very quickly and I ordered a brisket sandwich, served with potato chips made in house. The sandwich was delicious and the brisket was extremely tender. The chips were quite good as well and not very oily. There was also a pasta buffet, cooked to your specification. I was determined to try some Texas BBQ, however, and skipped it. Overall a very good and reasonably priced lunch spot.
