Description: No one really knows who invented barbeque. In America, it probably originated during the cattle drives of the 1800s, as chuck wagon cooks tried to tenderize inexpensive cuts of meat for the trail drivers. But the Chinese could lay claim to having a form of BBQ long before America was discovered, as well as the Romans and the Greeks. We'll never know who really invented it. That brings us to Q Kitchen | Bar, one of the most innovative restaurants on the River Walk. We've spent quite a bit of time searching out the globe's best BBQ and brought their recipes back to our San Antonio barbeque restaurant. We've added a dash of excitement and fun to the mix, by creating an "interactive kitchen" in the dining area that lets you see how we make our barbeque. Tempted by European style rotisserie barbeque? Go for it. And as for smoked meats...well...one glance at the menu will tell you how serious we are about that. By the way, feel free to talk to our chefs while they cook. You just might get them to divulge some of our secrets. So welcome to Q Kitchen | Bar: the pursuit of the ultimate barbeque. We've done all the hard work. You just need to sit back and enjoy. Let the journey begin.

We bought deal thru Travelzoo and everything at the Q was impeccable. Our waiter, JR, was amazing with all his recommendations, from drinks, appetizers to main entree.

“Worst Meal in EVER on the road”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

We ate at Rita's on the Riverwalk for our last night in San Antonio. We have been traveling from Key West to Ontario in the last four years, and I can honestly say it was the worst meal we have ever in all these miles. 1) Chips were stale, but salsa was adequate. 2) Margarita tasted as if they had neglected to put any tequila in it. 3) Waiter forgot the dressing on the salad, and we finally flagged down a busboy and asked if she could get our waiter. In ten minutes, he brought ranch dressing although my husband had requested French. We then learned they did not carry French; had he known this, he would have ordered something instead of soup and salad (and the soup had abbsolutely NO taste. 4) My nachos were so bland that Taco Bell would have been ashamed to serve them. 5) The service was almost non-existant; he took the order, put the food on the table and left the bill. Nothing in-between. Rita's should be stripped of its right to put Tex-Mex (or even food) on its menu.

“The best service ever”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Today I went in to the q bar and Isaac and Alfonso gave us the best service I've ever had in my life. If you want to be catered go to the Q bar on the river when these two guys are there. I've stayed before at the Hyatt and almost didn't go back again, but after the service today I'm a customer for life. Thanks guys and see you next time I'm in San Antonio.

“Gluten free muffins made fresh from scratch, not frozen!”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

The breakfast does not have a big spread but it has fresh fruits, juices, eggs prepared as you wish, nice bread selection and usual meats like bacon and sausages. The reason I like this restaurant because they offer gluten free muffins that are so good. Most hotel only serve gluten free bread from the freezer but toasted. Any restaurant that allows me to eat great gluten free meal will be top on my list.

“The patio bar was fun on Fridays..nice band playing.”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

We had a nice spot on the patio for drinks and once we got tired of the heat moved inside to the bar where a live band was playing and did quite well on every number they played, a nice mix of new and old. Only drawback they dont have Grey Goose vodka! and the martinis are verysmall for 10.00. the music was great though!
