Distance to downtown is relative; can be a problem for some people. For us it took 20 minutes of easy walking from River Walk (at 2 am, on 1st of January).

Surround looks abandoned, so this may also trigger worries of some, that is also understandable; but for us it was safe. You can call a taxi, it is 5 mins drive to center, for a few bucks.

Hotel is comfy enough for the price, clean and neat.

Breakfast was coffee, muffin, apple/banana, better than nothing.

Overall: give it a try; good value.

Room Tip: Avoid room next to ice machine / stairway.

This Knights Inn advertises that it's centrally located and within walking distance to the main downtown attractions and while technically this is true it's not a reality for this hotel. The walk would be very long and the hotel neighborhood is not one tourists are walking around in - in fact no one is walking around: most nearby buildings are abandoned. There is no restaurant nor is the "continental breakfast" worth mentioning as it's simply coffee and a granola bar which leads to the problem of the lack of restaurants nearby. This hotel is comfortable, clean, quiet, has wifi and is a fairly good value for a place to sleep at night. Beyond a good night's sleep there is nothing about this hotel that has any other attraction.

HI GYPSYIZ,
Thank you for responding to the survey. I Apologise for any inconvenience. we are 0.8 miles from the riverwalk which is less then a mile. This is a neighbourhood which the city has zoned art and entertaintment district to promote growth. yes we are on the main street of downtown with businesses around which close at certain times and few abondened buildings. we do serve 2 types of pastries, 2 type of fruits and coffee. when i checked last, most of the mid scale hotel serves the same type of continental breakfast adding juice and cereal to it. we are not on the riverwalk of downtown thats why we sell our rooms almost at 50% below what other hotels sell their rooms for in this area, but still the similar accomodations. we thrive in powerful basics at our hotel like just a basic standard breakfast, total non smoking hotel, in room coffee maker, hairdryer, fridge, microwave, ceiling fans, 32 inch lcd television, pillow top mattress, interior corridor and overall very clean and comfortable accomodations. we are just a mid scale segment hotel. unlike luxury hotel with big lobby and breakfast bar with price running 130 $ plus. The whole point is we can sell at a lower price as because of where we are and how we are. we do have lots of restaurant within a mile radius. walking distance restaurants are Al Dacos mexican , Ruth Chris Steak house, Fattys Burger. if you go further there is spaghetti warehouse which is a mile but driving is better for that. and at riverwalk within less then a mile there are tons of restaurant.
We respect your comments but at the same time i would like people reading this not to aspect a full service type of hotel but as mentioned. we will deliver what we promise at all times or we should have a oppurtunity to correct it if we have goofed up on something , and if we cannot correct it then we will refund their money.

You definitely cannot beat the price for how close it is to the Riverwalk and Alamo. The room was clean, bed comfortable. The neighborhood is a bit run-down, but you see that in many cities. I love the room design (Mission furniture) that you find in a Knight's Inn. The sink is outside of the bathroom (not a fan). The breakfast is on the weak side - danish, packaged muffins, coffee, and fruit. The woman at the front desk was very helpful. When I travel I do not spend much time in the room so why pay more for an upscale hotel? I would stay here again.

We really enjoyed our 4-night stay at the Knights Inn/La Hacienda Inn San Antonio, and would definitely recommend it. We chose the hotel after reading other Trip Advisor reviews, which we found to be a good guide. For a couple visiting San Antonio for the first time to see the sights, the location of the hotel was great; it was walking distance to the River Walk, Alamo, and Marketplace etc...and ideal for leaving the car behind. Don't be put off by the rundown area around the hotel; inside the hotel the rooms are lovely, spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a top floor room, 2 beds, minifridge/microwave, etc, nice bathroom, separate vanity basin outside the bathroom, and good space for 2 people. The A/C was appreciated too and kept the room nice and cool. Everything worked well, and the beds were very clean and comfortable. The free wifi is a plus, along with the free parking (a very special deal in this area). We parked our car undercover for the 4 nights, which turned out to be a blessing on the night that San Antonio had an all-night tornado alert, involving heavy rain and hail etc. We slept soundly knowing the car was undercover. Other reviewers have mentioned that the breakfast is not very much...however we found the coffee, banana/fruit and pastry selection to be just right for us each morning...and it was very nice that the manager gave us the milk for our coffee for our four mornings (we hate coffee creamer!) So we were very happy with our stay, and appreciated the effort that is obviously taken to keep the hotel neat, clean and tidy. Even the housekeeping was generous with the soaps and lotions etc, giving us new supplies each day...in our travels not all hotels do that! We are not fans of large high rise fancy hotels, preferring smaller, reasonably priced hotels...and we stay in dozens of hotels on our travels each year. So if you want a fancy luxury/swank hotel don't stay here. But for us, the Knights Inn is a real travellers hotel and is recommended.

Room Tip: The area is very quiet...however the upper floor rooms may be quieter again

This was a nice little place to stay. I was a little concerned about the neighborhood, but it was not a problem. Very clean. No breakfast that we could find. Good value for the money.

I just got back from my son's graduation from Army AIT training at Ft Sam Houston. I chose this hotel based on reviews and location and was not disappointed. It was about 2-3 miles from the base and a 20 minute walk to the Riverwalk and River Center Mall. The neighborhood is not so good but anywhere near downtown San Antonio that's going to be an issue. I've been to San Antonio many times over the years and there simply isn't a spot anywhere that the neighborhoods in the area are safe desirable spots.

The hotel was newly remodeled and very nice inside and out. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, clean, flat screen 32" HD TV, mini frige, microwave, granite, cool western decor. At the price it's everything you'd want or expect and more. As an FYI this hotel is 100% non-smoking.
