It was okay, but don't go outta your way eat here. Service was okay and the atmosphere was alright. I like the location and the parking was decent.

“Not everything you see on TV is true...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

I have wanted to visit LuIu's since seeing it on Man vs. Food. I have no doubt that Adam Richman had some of their best cinnamon buns. The soft bread expertly rolled up with a thick layer of butter and cinnamon was baked to perfection. The icing was literally the icing on the cake. The pools of icing gathering along the crevices looked luscious. Cut to reality. Amazingly the mile high bread was baked all the way through. Trouble is that there is little to no goodness inside the roll! The icing covering the rolls was substandard. I purchased two rolls, one to eat back in my hotel room and one to take home. They both came wrapped in saran wrap and both were at room temperature. The friendly staff said that even if I had ordered it and stayed at the restaurant, they would have heated it up in the microwave. Not was I was expecting. Needless to say, not everything you see on TV lives up to your expectations in real life. You would be better off enjoying a Cinnabon roll instead.

“OMG!”

This was the biggest and best cinnamon roll I've had to date. It took us almost 3 days to eat this cake like cinnamon roll.

“Great cinnamon bun!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

We came here after watching the MVF episode on Travel Channel. The cinnamon bun is GINORMOUS and really does weight 3LBS. The rest of the menu is your standard greasy diner food that leaves you wishing you had gone for a mere glass of water. THe service is sub par thought friendly, the restaurant is less than clean and the neighborhood is not somewhere you would want to get lost alone in.

“Very good food, very good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

This was a fantastic little dive. Very clean, food was fantastic, with a great price. The cinnamon rolls were AMAZING. SAPD chicken fried steak with queso was so good. The queso is actually REALLY amazing, so you can put it on anything. The grilled chicken was also great. Loved the fried okra. The neighborhood left something to be desired, but it was worth it. Also, the staff was amazingly friendly. They seemed to get bogged down at one point with not enough help, but I think any restaurant can go through that at times, and they seemed to recover well.
