“Fun atmosphere, but a bit expensive”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We stopped in after dinner on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was great - lively piano player belting out everything from Piano Man to Baby Got Back. He really got the crowd into it and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Peanuts on the table seemed to be a hit. The bar menu looked pretty extensive, though a little expensive for bar food. The drinks were expensive, based on my experience. We had two drinks for $17.50 and they were not fancy or made with premium liquor. Probably not someplace we would go to on a regular basis, but it was a fun night in a great location.

We had a great time at Dirty Nelly's. Sing along piano player was awesome. Go to this place for a fun bar experience while in San Antonio. Be ready to sing along.

“Irish Pub on River Walk...in Texas”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Stopped in for a drink during a convention and was really pleased. Had a really, really good margarita (on the rocks, of course, extra salt) and enjoyed the light breeze as the river flowed by. The piano player is what you would expect...campy and a little off-key...but he's a hoot. Locals described Durty Nelly's as a rough place, rowdy, as if we should be careful, but we found it to be laid back and easy-going. No idea what the locals were going on about. I'd definitely recommend this place!

“An Irish Pub on the River Walk”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

If you want to experience an Irish Pub in the middle of Texas, this is probably as good as its going to get. The pub is kind of tucked away on the walk. It has the dark wood interior that you expect from a typical Irish pub with a wide offering of beer on draft and sandwiches, such as an Irish Patty Melt. The pub features live music in the evenings. Worth your while if you want to get away from the tourist kitsch for a while.
