My family and I enjoyed a few days here. It was very nice, super clean, and everybody was very friendly, with the exception of a woman at the concierge desk that was not very friendly. However we had a great time. Which I would have stayed longer to enjoy the pool. Unfortunately when we visited it rained quite a lot.

My parents, husband and I recently returned from this family friendly resort. As we didn't have any kids with us, I can't review anything about what looked to be extensive summer camp style children's program. To all who are considering this resort, there are kids everywhere. Period. Most of the kids are entirely unsupervised which means that if you are thinking you will be able to relax on the lazy river, forget it. Kids playing bumper tubes, splash wars, and screaming. We tried different times of the day to no avail although morning was a little less crowded. Keep in mind, the pool is not open past 8:00 p.m.. The only place entirely away from the kids was the spa and spa pool, access to which is free the day you have a spa service or an extra $15.00 a day per person in addition to the resort fee.

Speaking of which, the spa itself is wonderful. Sauna, steam room and the pool. The treatment rooms were upscale and my massage therapist was very good. The services were a bit expensive but that is to be expected at a resort. The spa pool was almost always empty and the pool furniture was much, much better than that around the regular pools as was the level of service from the pool attendant. There is even a little lunch place in the spa so you can easily spend an entire day there.

The stand outs from the staff were Randie, a very professional and friendly front desk clerk who, as we are platinum members, upgraded us to an amzaing suite, Ray, a bartender in the lobby bar called the Crooked Branch, who never failed to greet us by name and engage us in genuine conversation, and Bianca, our friendly housekeeper, who kept our room cleaned and stocked.

The room itself was amazing. Separate living room and dining room with one bedroom with a king size bed and two full size bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers. Huge balcony with plenty of loungers. It was very clean, had two separate a/c controls for the different rooms, and had a fridge and microwave in a little nook between the bedroom and living room. The view of the hills, pool and golf course from the room was very nice.

We ate at several of the restaurants in the hotel. There is a good variety, from pricey steaks to inexpensive bar type foods. Keep in mind, the more expensive the food, the quieter the restaurant.

Overall, I would most definitely stay here again. Just expect to pay the extra 15 bucks per person to use the spa pool in the summer if you want to relax in the water or lounge in peace. Also, keep in mind what you are going to use the most in the hotel and request a room near it or it will be quite a trek. Self-parking can also fill up so you may have to valet.

If management does read this, my main suggestion would be to have a couple hours in the evening for the pools, lazy river, and slides to be adults only.

Room Tip: Stay away from elevators and near what you want to do (i.e. spa or water slides).

This is a huge resort with many amenities, friendly staff and fabulous pools, HOWEVER, if you don't like being around kids, summertime is not when you should go. Even at mid week the lazy river was more like the busy river. Children romping rather than floating, teenagers throwing balls overhead and kids swimming under you ( and not making it sometimes). Yes, there is an adult pool, but I do wish that they had an hour after general closing at 8, just for adults. We went the first hour of opening the next day and it was much improved, especially water slide access. Going when school is back in session would probably be a good choice.

If you do go in the summer ask for a room on the top floor at the end of the hallway to avoid the pitter patter and chatter of excited children. If you do have kids, this is the place for you. There were many many participation activities and even a roping cowboy to entertain them. Corn hole is set up by the table tennis and tent. Smores by the fire pit at night. The rooms are adequate in size, and our housekeeper, Bianca, kept ours very clean and was delightful. I like the separate shower and tub. What I do not understand, and I have seen it in other warm weather places, is why, in 90 and 100 degree heat, they have duvet comforters on the bed that seem more appropriate to Vermont winters instead of Texas summer.

We went to the 18 Oaks restaurant for breakfast and it was a quiet oasis, that had standard breakfast items done with great flare. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. Velocity, the sports bar was so noisy it gave me a headache, but the table by the windows on the path to the pool offered great people watching opportunities.

We were fortunate enough to stay at this resort in the latter part of June. We were very, very happy with our experience. The valet and baggage handlers were extremely kind and checking in was a breeze. Our room was clean and their restaurant provided delicious food and cocktails for the grown ups!

We rented a cabana two consecutive days and I must admit, the service and attitude of their staff is phenomenal. They are attentive, very polite and a pleasure to be around. I wish whoever trained this group of young adults would provide seminars for other resorts that don't offer the same customer service.

My children loved the slides and their lazy river. If they ever got tired, they simply met us at our cabana for quick snooze on their comfy outdoor furniture and if they got hungry, our wonderful servers were always there to take our orders. Unlike other places that we've been to, the food was always delivered promptly and each bite was gobbled up because it was always so good!

Overall, our experience at this resort was a memorable one and we will continue to bring our family back each and every summer! To be honest, we didn't even have to leave the resort during our stay. Everything is provided here. Fun in the sun, restaurants, cocktails, etc. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who asks!

Wow. Did we have a blast at this place or what?! It's huge!! Matter of fact, I was told it's the largest Marriott in North America. I believe it. It's massive and even when it's filled to capacity there's still plenty of room. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for anything. The rooms are so spacious and the bathrooms had a separate shower and bathtub which I know families will appreciate. Everyone will suggest a room with a view of this or a view of that. Blah blah blah. Let me tell you that all the rooms have great views. We stayed the first half of our trip in a room facing the golf course and spa. It was beautiful. We stayed the second half in a room facing the main courtyard and pool. It was beautiful. I don't spend much time out on the balcony. So for me a specific view of something was not important. I sat out on the balcony for 10 minutes a day. Five in the morning while I drank coffee and 5 in the evening while I drank a glass of wine. What's more important than the view? The location. If you're there with kids then get as close to the pool as possible. If you're not staying with kids then get as far away from the pool as possible. Enjoy some peace and quiet in what would probably be a considered the "convention" section of the hotel. The hotel pool is spectacular. The lazy river, main pool, toddler swim and splash pool, water slides and adult pool are wonderful. We never had a long wait at the slides and the pool only became slightly crowded in late afternoons when the influx of guests checking in would come out to the pool. (An aside: no one ever tells you this but check in starts at 11 am, not 3-4 pm like most hotels. So get there early, request a room located where you like, you're welcome). My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the lazy river. Sooooo relaxing. The river grill was really good. The food, drinks and servers were great. It's pricey. The average cocktail was $14. You're not allowed to bring in outside alcohol. Wink. Wink. Shhhhh! The restaurants were very good. Food was great at the Cibolo Moon as well as the High Velocity sports bar. The Buffett is delicious and worth the money just to get in and out in less than an hour and a half. You can order an entree from the main menu but please be prepared to wait a looooong time. Order a drink, get cozy and relax. You're gonna be there a while. Food off menu was pretty tasty and worth the wait if you have the time to sit outside, let the kids play on the lawn and just chill out. So relaxing and enjoyable. The spa was wonderful and I would highly recommend taking a few of the yoga, barre, aqua aerobics or Pilates classes if you like a little exercise while on vacation.
You'll love this resort. Love it. I can't wait to go back next summer!

I have known of this resort for quite some time but just recently had the opportunity to treat my family to a long weekend at this secluded Hill Country resort. First impressions are critical and this spot passes the test - upon approach you can't help but be in awe of the massive resort. The staff was very polite at every interaction. The grounds were flawless, restaurants terrific. The true gem here, particularly if you are traveling with kids, is the aquatic park. I simply can't just call this a pool...it is so much more! Water slides, lazy river, energetic baby pool, abundant pool side chairs and umbrellas, even cabanas...they have it all!

I did have a couple disappointing moments and I feel obligated to share those when providing reviews. First, in the interest of full disclosure, I am a Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite member and I used Rewards points to book this stay. My family had stayed the night before at the Marriott Rivercenter (also on points) and had received an upgrade to a suite. I called this resort the morning of check-in to inquire about an upgrade (traveling with a baby, having a separate living room can be a life saver). The professional I spoke with indicated that there was plenty of vacancy during our stay and that an upgrade should not be a problem whatsoever. Great! So, I was a little disappointed at the point of check-in when I was told that my upgrade was simply an upgraded view of the pool area. We didn't even get a full size balcony. I was traveling with 3 other families - none of whom are Marriott Rewards members, all of whom had full size balconies. From my vantage point, there was little appreciation for my status and more focus on rewarding non brand loyal guests who were paying for the stay. Big picture - not a deal breaker...the room was fine and the baby was cooperative. The one real issue I had, which I now realize that I never reported to the property, pertains to the extra pillow and blanket contained in a zipped bag in the top of the closet. I had a need to use those items our 2nd night and, to my horror, when I opened the bag at about 3:00 am, I discovered what appeared to be a dried blood stain on the pillow case and dark black hairs on the blanket. Needless to say, I tossed those right back in the closet. To the resort management, if you happen to read this, please check on this in room 3362 (we just checked out on 7/8/14)..someone else may throw a huge fit.

Overall, despite the couple of hiccups listed above, my family and the 3 we were traveling with all had a great time. We will go back and I am hopeful that the next time around my Platinum Elite status will yield a little better upgrade, whether I am paying or redeeming points.

The person that cleaned our room was exceptional! They are very customer service driven. The only thing that I would say was concerning is that a group of our friends were swimming in the pool after hours and their wallets were stolen. Even though it feels safe, be careful!

The pool area is great, the restaurant by the golf course - excellent.....the main restaurant in the hotel Cibola Moon sp? The lunch menu was better than dinner menu, the service was slow but it is pretty busy in there.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Not sure if there was a bad room.
