“High End Quality! Warm & Friendly Staff!”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

I recently had the privledge of staying at the JW Marriott in San Antonio for a business meeting and was impressed from the very first minute. Polite, intelligent workers greet you as you exit your cab and escort you to the check in location. Equally pleasant staff are found at every counter and in the restaurant. In fact the staff at the restaurant were exceptionally accommodating as we shifted chairs and tables and rushed in and out between meetings

Over the course of my stay I found the room to be quite nice and provide everything I required in the way of TV, internet, phone and ameneties. The meeting rooms were also handled very well with all of the AV presentations and microphones and internet working without a hitch (which frankly is a rare event at these meetings!). I would certainly come back and stay without hestitation at this hotel!

Room Tip: If early to bed, I would request a room not facing the main courtyard / outdoor space where it appea...

This place is really nice and even has it's own golf course and water park. It's a little out the way and if you are only visiting San Antonio for a couple days you might find this place a little far to travel to. In our case however we loved that it was out the way. Fine dining was excellent and the small water park was fun . It has a complimentary laundry room and provides detergents free. The rooms were clean and nice , the view we had was not great but it didn't really matter as we were out and about. If you like golf this is the place as it holds the US golf open. Overall a really nice place to stay .

The JW San Antonio is massive, like everything else in texas. PGA golf course, huge open lobby/lounge area, massive multi-faceted pool with a lazy float river, two water slides, adults only horizon pool with hot tub and poolside drink service. A huge sports bar perfect for watching the Red Sox and Patriots (New Englander who was there in October during the World Series run) and awesome little cushioned seating area outside by gas powered rustic fireplaces to sit and relax with a drink when the sun goes down. I am a regular joe who was there during a large conference and it seems as though that is the JW's forte; big conferences with thousands of people running around like ants with giant credential necklaces on. Bottom line: you could stay at the JW for a week and never leave the grounds and still not run out of things to do. Oh and don't forget to ask the front desk about the complimentary sports cars for reservation. Seriously.

I stayed at the JW since all of the Marriott properties in San Antonio were booked out. The property is massive - the walk from the parking lot (I dislike valet service) was a long one - with no real direct path to the front door. Once inside I received a friendly greeting and went to my room. I had an issue with bathroom cleanliness - there were brown spots on the toilet seat - not sure how what was missed, but I didn't care to stay in that room. I called the front desk to request a different room. The front desk arranged for a different room, and much larger room. The new room was in perfect condition.

As I mentioned before, the property is massive and it takes a few minutes to get oriented - there are multiple dining options - the lobby bar has snack sized portions - head to the sports bar if you want full-size portions. The amenities looked great from the window - unfortunately due to my schedule I did not get to enjoy any of them.

Location - it's out in the burbs - what feels like way out there. However, the run to the airport early one morning was much shorter than anticipated. If I were in SA for pleasure I would probably try to stay here.

Was there for convention. The service is impeccable. You get greeted at every step and that is why I am giving them an average rating.
The mattress is extremely poor quality and the bathroom deco looks like they ran out of money. The overall resort is beautiful with great facilities for adults and children.
Our housekeeper Carmen always had our room done on time with the hotel being sold out.

You're warmly greeted at the door. Check in is swift and friendly. Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, with inviting views. Great golf course, especially the one they play the PGA Valero Tour event on. Tough, but fair, with nice vistas. Superb restaurant adjacent to the pro shop. Nice outdoor area with a fireplace. Bit too cold and shut down pool facilities during our visit, but this was clearly communicated in advance--credit to Marriott for disclosure--and didn't bother us. Huge sports bar. And everywhere you turn, just very nice, well trained staff trying to make your stay enjoyable. I don't like "resort fees" as mandatory add-ons to the base price, but it costs money to upkeep the property as they do in great condition. Golf guys remember your name and could not be more accommodating and gracious. Superb place for a get away or conference.

Room Tip: Ask to be close to elevators. It can be a hike to go to your room.

Great place but a few caveats so you are aware of the place. We purchased this through Marriott Vacations which provided airfare and the cost of the hotel room.
1) the 32.00 daily resort fee is not included in the Vacation payment. When we were there the pools and almost all outdoor activities were closed for our stay. We do not golf. So 32.00 to sit in the library or the lobby or our room, when we were not out and about San Antonio.
2) Much of the outdoor pool area is closed in December and January for repair and upkeep. Only limited facilities are available. The very small adult pool was open.
3) Food can be expensive esp at Cibolo Moon
4) You have to go to the Lobby for a newspaper.
5) rooms have a refrig and a safe.
