“Very Good but not cheap”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

I found a good rate that included the resort fee and $100 spending money. I selected a roll away bed on-line. I also called and requested a roll away bed. During check in I was informed you could not have a roll away bed in a room with two double beds - it would have been nice to find this out before hand. This was an annoyance but not devastating. The hotel is very large and its spaces are very large in scale. There is great seating in the main lobby and outside. The hotel is in great shape and quite attractive. It is fairly loud and energetic (lots of kids on the weekend). Bands playing indoors and out. The pool complex was great fun. The three water slides were all great and the lines were fairly short (summer weekend). The pool area gets very crowded and it was difficult to find four chairs together to sit and put down our stuff. We enjoyed the bar/lobby area, sports restaurant and regular restaurant. The room was quite nice with a big modern bathroom and nice deck with a pretty view. Wish they had two queen beds instead of doubles but we still slept OK (family with two teenagers). Worked out at the exercise room by the spa - had some very good equipment but was small. Enjoyed the smores and rubber duck race (my daughter came in last and won a prize). Great staff - everyone was extremely friendly except the check in guy, but that was probably due to me being a little upset about the roll away bed. We enjoyed just grabbing some Starbucks muffins/scones for breakfast each day.

First of all, would like to say that it is indeed a beautiful, clean resort with helpful employees. This is our 2nd stay and we had a good time. I did feel as though the resort fee was way too high. It is now $32 and they add hotel tax to the resort fee which brings it to about $38. I've never seen a resort fee this high. They give you two free drinks but it is a limited selection and if you're not a drinker then there's no benefit to you. Also, if you are a Gold Elite member staying in the summer on a weekend, don't expect anything extra. There's no club floor, or breakfast coupons, or upgrades to be seen. Not sure what Platinum members are offered. Would love to know though. Lastly, the entire day we were in the Adult pool, people were smoking in and around the pool. I even stepped on someone's discarded cigarette....disgusting! The front desk said this was a non-smoking resort but obviously they don't enforce it because the bartenders that walked through the adult area never said a word to the smokers.

Room Tip: The rooms that have two beds are doubles, so they are so much smaller than queens. If you have kids...

We were there for the TWA Convention and this is a well run resort. The adult pool is nice and the pool for the kids is big enough so it doesn't seem crowded. We are here twice a year and look forward to coming back. The only problem we had was a young lady got sick in the adult pool after to many shots and well let's just say they had to clear the pools for awhile.

Went there weekend of July 4th to unwind. The place is beautiful, but ended up getting a pool view room instead of a Deluxe Hill Country view room. The hotel was sold out, so there was really no choice. The hotel was very overcrowded, due to a wedding/private function(which happens there all the time). There are no real biking trails, even though their website indicates that.. The biking trails are available for $55/person and that is thru some private tour company. The only major activity that you can do with kids is swimming, but that was a disaster. All the pool chairs(and I don't mean the ones with the umbrella) were gone by 7:30am (even though the pool opened at 8am). Long lines for lazy river and slides. The lazy river had adults standing by the bar area (La Fresco) and drinking/spilling the drinks in the water with kids swimming in the lazy river. Very limited restaurants on the property but they do have shuttle service to restaurants 5-6 miles away. I spent over $500/night with taxes including resort fee and having to deal with something like this is just plain unacceptable. If you got there make sure there is no private or corporate function and they have not sold too many day passes for visitors to crash the pool.

Very nice resort, with a few restaurant selctions. However, if you left something at home (like a mouse for your computer) you are out of luck. They have a gift shop, which is mainly tourist stuff, but does have water, wine, OTC medications, etc. Can get very old after a couple of days. It's out in the middle of no where. Room was very clean and up to date. Cleaned every day and wireless worked very well. Had a full balcony. There is a fridge in the room, empty but can hold your water, etc. Plan on walking a lot! Starbucks was very convenient. Wine is $11 for their house red but top shelf mixed drinks are only $8 ??. Restaurants have mainly bar food, but the golf clubhouse restaurant was higher end with very good selections.

Room Tip: Get a full balcony, not the juliet balcony that is basically an open window.

We wanted to avoid airports during the 4th holiday and found a first class resort in the wide open spaces of the hill country. It is huge but so well managed with attention to details. Hi to Mike who is the director of Recreation whom I met at the pool. He reads TA everyday to see how they are doing. And I also had 2 conversations with Scott, the director of Food Services. How many hotels have their top people on the grounds, in fact I was impressed with the high quality of every staff member. There were a ton of people but we never had to wait for an elevator or long for a table in the restaurants. It was worth the price of admission for the fantastic water park and spa. I don't think we can ever go to a plain hotel pool again with our Grands.

We stayed their over the July 4th weekend and this is our 3rd stay at this property. The property, hotel and rooms are very well maintained and very clean. The staff is very helpful. The hotel was busy because of the holiday weekend and there was a wedding there, too but they had plenty of staff on hand to accommodate the number of guests. I only had to wait one time for a request I made for my room and the staff readily made my checkout time a little later to accommodate me for the wait. (extra room towels) The kids enjoyed the lazy river and the weekend activities which kept them busy. We will definitely be back.
