“Beautiful resort”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

Stayed two nights over a weekend in this family-friendly, 1002-room resort located in the outskirts of San Antonio. Lobby and public areas are beautiful and the High Velocity Sports Bar and Cibolo Moon restaurant both are very nice. Guest rooms are not exciting. The desk is too high so a lower pull out table was added underneath. Both are awkward unless you've happened to bring your computer monitor with a separate keyboard. Bathroom also not special although it is spacious. Towels were thinner than you would expect at a resort of this caliber and also not in perfect condition. We called twice before they sent up a second bathrobe. That said, the staff really makes this place. They are friendly, and service oriented.

A great place for a weekend golf getaway. The resort itself is outstanding, good service, great facility and restaurants. The golf was outstanding. The Norman course feels much newer and the greens are in perfect shape. It is the one course to play if you have to choose. A shotmaker's course, and all out fun and challenging. The Dye course doesn't feel "dye-abolical" enough for a Dye course. Some good holes, but very different from the Norman course. Wide open fairways, and a much easier course than the Norman. The greens were not in as good as shape. Feels like they need to be redone soon. Still, a really great weekend.

I attended a meeting there earlier this year and this is a very nice resort. Beautiful golf course, spa and exercie room. There are several restaurants but the bar also has very good, reasonable priced food and the largest tv screen I have ever seen. I covers the whole place in width.

I had a suite with a large bedroom, amazing bathroom ,living roon and 2 decks. It was more than I needed but nice to have.

The staff was very well trained and I hope to have another meeting there.

Room Tip: If you are attending a meeting , get a room close to the convemtion wing..

We love this resort. Absolutely gorgeous views from the enormous patio off of our room. Plenty of sweet little private spots to sit with a good book. Skip the breakfast at the hotel and go on over to the pro shop for a fabulous breakfast with great views and fewer people.

Stayed at this hotel recently for a conference. The common areas of the hotel were lovely. Dinner at 18 Oaks was very good. Delicious steak. Cibolo Moon was also quite good. Room was ok. Decent size. Housekeeping was not very good. Stayed for 5 days and the carpeting was never vacuumed once. Or the furniture dusted. The walls in the rooms are very thin. We could hear alarm clocks next door, conversations in the bathroom, doors slamming, etc...

The hotel is in a residential area and there are no nearby restaurants or shopping within walking distance. And no complimentary car service. There is no free internet in either your room or the lobby. Beware of the $25 per day 'resort fee.'

We were here on a business trip and had a wonderful time. It is a little far from the city but there is a shuttle that can take you to the downtown area although most of our time was spent at the pool and the lazy river. The lazy river was the highlight of the place for us. Very relaxing and pleasant .

The Hotel is J. W. Marriott's largest J.W. property, perhaps they should have tried to be the best vs. the largest!

The staff is VERY attentetive and there are a lot of them to help out, almost too many looking for something to do.

The parking lot is AWFUL and if you do not want to deal with it the cost is $25 per day for Valet service. They do not have enough spaces for the Hotel guests and large parties. You can end up having to treck a mountain side in the rain or worse to get to a spot and hike back to the Hotel.

The rooms are nice, but not great. They have the signature J.W. Mattresses which are always great, but the amenities in the room are average after that.

The Spa is nice, but lacks warmth or life in the decorations, it is mostly grey and gloomy. No T.V to watch while in the jacuzzi or while seated to go into the sauna's.

They charge you $25 per day per person for Serivice Amenties, this includes Free internet access, 2 drinks per night in the lounge and partial admitance to the spa, (full spa privedges which include access to the Sauna and jacuzzi are $15 MORE per day. As a Platinum member I am somewhat asounded that this JW charges me $25 per day for that which others JW's have available to me in the Concerige lounge at no charge. (there is NO Platinum member lounge at this hotel).

All in all I would not go back, nice to have been once, but nothing there so special I would stay there again on my nest trip to San Antonio. I think I would be better off on the Riverwalk in one the properties there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Golf Course or Pool
