“One mishap after another”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2011

Our stay began with an unexpected, exorbitant fee for valet parking in their lot! We were given a room in which a smoke detector battery was dying and making a constant yip. Their restaurant was out of basic food items. And upon returning to our room after dinner, we found the door card key access broken, the smoke detector still yipping, and it took an hour before the maintenance personnel arrived to repair it. They compted us only for breakfast which they grudgingly brought to the room.

My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Four Points for the Texas Music Educators convention. It's proximity to the convention center was a strong point, but the management, staff, and property itself barely met our minimum expectations.

The remodeled rooms looked pleasant enough, but the refrigerator was old and functioned poorly and the bathroom fixtures were hastily installed and were falling apart. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room, but the cleanliness of the linens was suspect. The coffeemaker did not work properly and had not been cleaned when we arrived in the room.

The staff were nice and tried to be helpful, but they seemed extremely disorganized and ill prepared to handle the extra traffic of a convention weekend. The free breakfast was a fiasco on our first morning. Things improved on the second and third mornings, but they still ran out of food and coffee before everyone could be served.

The parking fee of $16 per day was steep, and the valets were just as disorganized as the rest of the staff. We won't be staying here again.

I was attending a conference for school officials with late notice. The hotel at which the conference was being held was full. I do not usually pick Four Point hotels but thought this price was very reasonable. Excitingly, this property is conveniently located to allow walking to great restaurants, bars, and the Riverwalk itself. The staff was very welcoming and even provided a nice welcome gift. The rooms are spacious and clean, and I had no trouble with any aspect of the hotel.

Having never visited San Antonio before, my husband and I asked our travel agent to find us a nice hotel that was within our price range and close to the Riverwalk. The Four Points Sheraton seemed to fit the bill, but parking our rental car was an issue. We had a choice of paying $16 for valet parking (and giving a tip each time the valet walked 20 ft., retrieved our car, and drove it 20 ft. to the entrance), or finding a parking garage several blocks away. However, the manager had nicely given us coupons for a free breakfast each day, which almost cancelled out the parking fee. Otherwise, the hotel was clean, within a few blocks of the Riverwalk, and quiet. Although they advertise having a restaurant inside, its dinner choices were limited and I wouldn't recommend eating there with so many other options. By the way, other hotel guests also stronly voiced their displeasure with the the forced valet parking.

The Four Points is within walking distance to all of the downtown attractions in San Antonio. The friendly bellman, Christy hooked us up with the trolley schedule, local transportation and taxis. Excellent customer service thru-out the hotel.

A friend and I stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton San Antonio Downtown hotel for a quick sight-seeing weekend and had a great experience! Our spacious room was on the 4th floor overlooking their pool area. It had a separate seating area with a couch & TV. The sink/vanity was outside the shower/toilet portion of the bathroom, which made it quicker for two ladies to get ready for the day. The beds were comfy and the A/C was just right - it worked and it wasn't noisy! I found the hotel to be clean and orderly, perhaps recently renovated? The staff was very nice and helpful too. They have valet parking so in the case where their small lot fills up, you don't have to park farther away and walk back. The hotel is 2 blocks away from the Riverwalk so it's a great location & a great price. I didn't get to take advantage of their bar but did sit outside and read by the pool. The pool is small but has a waterfall and the stone patio is really nice. All in all, a great trip. We would definitely stay here again if we return to San Antonio.

This hotel was a much better value than any of the hotels directly on the Riverwalk. We were also closer to the historic King William neighborhood and highly (non-touristy, break your wallet) restaurants. My only complaint, and this is trivial and minor, is that there was never anyone waiting to serve you in the Starbucks coffee shop. And no sign saying open at...or we will be right back...or see the front desk...nothing. By day number three I simply stoped trying and walked a couple blocks to another hotel or an actual starbucks. Everything else was great....and don't understand people saying it was in a bad neighborhood...I completely disagree with anyone stating that. I will stay again....by staying here...I can spend my money on eating out and other touristy things...rather than I hotel room I wasn't in. The rooms are clean and seemed to be recently renovated. There was also a small fridge in the room...which was NICE! I recommend Guenther House to eat (an easy walk unless you have never excercised and smoke a couple of packs a day)...and I also recommend renting bikes to ride to each of the four amazing missions.
