“Of ghosts and oatmeal”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

My wife and I were are touring the southwest. We decided to visit the Alamo, which is located directly across the street from this hotel. Older hotel is well maintained. Room was large, bed extremely comfortable. Wife loved it, I not quite as much. We found out after booking that hotel is supposedly haunted, if only certain floors. Large tub, with jets did come on by itself, briefly, an electrical short or ghosts, It'll leave up to you. My only complaint. Being a vegan in Texas limits my food options. Wanted oatmeal for breakfast, was given option of buffet or off menu. Checked out oatmeal there and saw it looked dried out so I thought I'd order off menu, thinking I'd get freshly made oatmeal. Waitress returned 2 minutes after I ordered with a bowl from the buffet, it tasted as it looked. I passed on breakfast, wife went with buffet and enjoyed it, she eats meat. Overall experience good, aside from breakfast.

Maybe a bit overpriced for a Sunday Night but the accommodations were excellent. Had a Jr. Suite with Jacuzzi. Very comfortable. A bit cold (had to turn off the AC for a couple of hours) But other than that the room was great. Comfortable king bed, Mini Fridge in room, and a warm cookie at check-in made the night a great stay.

could not ask for more. Really nice room, great location and wonderful staff. Check-in was so easy and changes made in a quick and pleasant way. Right across the road from Alamo and very close to all river-walk restaurants.

My trip did not start as planned and I noted half day before that would not going to make it but the next day. However the hotel kindly altered the reservations with short notice. When arriving early next day, the rooms were not yet available. We were hoping to use our spare day efficient and the doorman kindly showed us for the car rental. Finally when arriving from our day cruise, a warm chocolate biscuit was welcoming us. Totally mouth melting. Rooms were generously spacy and offered just all I needed. Breakfast was flexiple and was able to choose for small or bigger one, service was quick and friendly. The location was close enough for the river walk, but also easy to start any trip by car out of the center. This was a very good choice and with great value.

Top quality facilties and very comfortable accommodations in a prime location next to the Alamo and the Riverwalk where there is a wide choice of restaurants and even boat trips. Slightly expensive but worth it. I recommend this hotel to fellow tourists.

The hot tub was full of cigarette butts and cold and after we reported it, the next day one of the lights was dangling in the water, a potential electrical experience, I'll take the downtown lights from now on and somewhere else

This hotel is in a great location. I have stayed here a few times, and the best room was facing the outside. Those facing inside were smaller. Nice hotel with character. It looks at the Alamo, so there are a lot of options for touristy things. The River Walk is just steps away with a LOT of dining options. If you valet a car, call ahead significantly if you are leaving during peak hours (I was here on business, and there was a window every morning where you needed to call at least 15 minutes ahead)
