Owner description: This cathedral was built in 1873 to replace the original founded more than one hundred years earlier.

This cathedral has been the center of San Antonio life for over 280 years.
It is a great example of period architecture, but the windows appear to be 1950 vintage.
On Friday afternoon, you may see brides going to get married at County Court House and have pictures made in front of the cathedra.

Beautiful cathedral. We experienced the crowning of the Fiesta King while we were in town. Quite an extravaganza.

I have visited San Antonio dozens and dozens of times over my lifetime. I did not know until this year that the remains of the Alamo Heroes were interred here. That is inexcusable for a Texas History buff.

Saturday afternoons at 5:30 they host a Spanglish mass with a Mariachi; a must. Be there early if you want to find seating.

The recent renovation of this venerable Cathedral was done with great skill and restraint; the end result is awe-inspiring and yet modest. The focal point of the interior is the glorious golden alter that adorns the front of the sanctuary. The acoustics are amazingly good. This is a place evokes spiritual strength and rejuvenation.
