“Texas melting pot”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This was a nice morning excursion. Not the museum experience I was anticipating. It truly captures the various cultural and ethnic groups that settled early Texas. A different kind of history lesson that goes well beyond the Alamo,Texas Rangers and cattle. Great volunteers bring exhibits to life. Be sure to go ourt to the "back 40" to see the buildings.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

We have been to SA many times and never visited here so we decided to give it a go. We picked a day when there was a huge naturalization ceremony taking place (a Thursday) so the $8 entry was waived because the middle of the museum was out of bounds. There was still plenty to see and it is interesting to see all teh places that people came from to settle Texas

“Visit spoiled by noisy schoolchildren”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

This is an interesting museum but my visit on Friday 19 October was spoiled by the invasion of several parties of noisy school children who spent their time running amok, banging on the doors and screaming and shouting all the way through the film being projected at 11am in the Dome Theater (situated in the middle of the museum, on the ceiling). Teachers accompanying them didn't appear to feel there was anything out of order. In fact one teacher made things worse by screaming at the kids when she could have explained something to them more calmly - this only made them even more excited. The museum should ban the use of cellphones and Ipads, as kids were playing with these all the way through the film, causing nuisance.
The museum has exhibits from around 27 different countries whose inhabitants formed a significant immigrant group into the US. Well worth a visit.
