“Botanical Garden in San Antonio”

Everytime we visit, it's completely different. Lots to see and the restaurant on site is wonderful and cost is reasonable. You don't need to pay entrance fee to go to the restaurant. It's on Bus 7 which runs every hour. Went there twice this trip.

“Nice collections, interesting layout”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

You won't find a lot of dazzling floral displays here, the highlight to this botanical garden is the unique partially-underground conservatory. It has an amazing and diverse collection of tropical plant, ferns, cacti, palms and cycads in a very contemporary set of buildings. Cacti are also featured outside in a second cactus and succulent garden. The garden has a very interesting layout with a high overlook, and the low conservatory. A walk around a small lake lets you explore the Texas Pineywoods and there's even an old log cabin and historic buildings. Don't miss the Japanese garden — it is small but very nicely done. The obligatory formal and rose gardens are nice, but pretty typical. There is also a large wisteria arbor which I imagine is spectacular when the wisterias are in bloom. It's not a large garden, but certainly worth a visit.

The gardens were a beautiful place to visit on a beautiful day with our family. This was our second visit and we would go back again.

“Pumpkins in the garden!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

Beautiful time of the year to visit. Had lunch at the Bistro and that was a wonderful surprise. Lots of healthy choices on the menu....and tasty desserts too. This is one of my favorite places to visit in San Antonio. Nice to see in any season.
