My wife and I paid a visit to the Guenther house. The tour of the house is informal and self guided. An interesting story of the Guenther family and their role in San Antonio. It was a busy Saturday so the wait for brunch was long, but worth it. The staff was very helpful and nice. A great place for brunch.

We stumbled on The Guenther House -- it was a stop on the trolley tour -- and had a delicious lunch on the outside patio. The house itself has only 1 'museum' room to tour but there was no charge to view it. The gorgeous wooden floors and stairs in this house were wonderful. The gift shop has all sorts of items, including mixes from the next-door flour mill that Mr. Guenther started/operated. I bought several different mixes and so far (just returned home yesterday) have tried the Sweet Cream Waffle Mix -- absolutely the BEST waffles ever! This is on the edge of the King William district of historic homes and was an excellent stop for lunch and a rest.

Informal, self guided tour. Very interesting to hear the family history from the staff there. Not as big inside as some of the other housed in the area, but still worth the stop. Its the oldest family run mill in the US I was told, this year being their 163rd anniversery.

We were looking for an art gallery and decided to check out the Guenther House, a historic home located between the Pioneer Flour Mill and the San Antonio River a few blocks south of the downtown Riverwalk area. It has a popular restaurant outside and also hosts small events, plus has a nice gift shop.

I like to take groups there; it is unique, in a very old homestead converted into a restaurant. And, I have always enjoyed the food. Great for office party or special birthday/events!
