Thank you for your feedback! We do actually have a restaurant on-site, it is located at the Riverwalk level of the hotel. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch service in a fantastic location, and we are very glad that you found our staff to be helpful. We have recently made some changes to our complimentary evening food and beverage offerings which continue to include our traditional salad, soups, baked potato, veggies, chips and salsa, hotdogs, and other items that change daily (now including pasta and meatballs!). We appreciate your feedback and will work to deliver these items in the best way possible. For those looking for a different food experience, there is a world of restaurants just outside our doors for you to explore! Property renovations are also now underway to freshen things up!

Thanks,

Matthew Funk

We have stay here twice including once over a christmas. Each time we have enjoyed our stay greatly. This is a great hotel to stay at if you are a couple or a family.

The hotel is right on the river walk. Within a few minutes, you are in the heart of everything. The hotel itself is very grand and stately, and definitely accepts it's age (it doesn't try to be modern). The rooms are large and nicely laid out. Each of our rooms had huge windows with incredible views. They also let in a lot of light. The pool and hottub are on the one section of the roof. Both are nice. There is also a nice sitting area up there. We would go up there in the evening and watch the city light up.

The staff was very friends. The front desk staff always make check-in process easy. I was eagerly awaiting a package that was being delivered to the hotel. The front desk pulled it aside and call me as soon as it was delivered. Knowing it was delivered and safe was a big relief for me (I had never had anything delivered to a hotel before).

One of the pluses to staying at the Drury is the incredible buffets they have for breakfast and dinner which are included in your stay. You also get a drink voucher for beer, wine and a variety of mixed drinks. There are so many wonderful hot items that are freshly prepare. We took advanage of the afternoon/evening buffet as a late afternoon snack. Since we normally didn't eat dinner until late evening, the buffet was a great tide me over after a long day running around San Antonio. Occasionally, it would be our actual dinner. This was a huge plus as we are always looking for ways to stretch our dollars on vacation. Not having to worry about a few dinners or lunches for 5 people goes a long way.

We really liked this place. Not an easy to find entryway for cars, but after driving round the block a couple of times, then it was obvious. Parking the car was around ramps, but each floor had access to the rooms, so it was quite convenient once we got the hang of it. However parking was $14 a day, added to our room charges.
We were given room 207. A "deluxe room" with two Queen beds. Very large with double windows overlooking the river. But no balcony to go out on. The beds were lovely. An assortment of comfortable pillows. At 5:30pm we went down to the lobby for "happy hour". Oh my. Copious amounts of Chicken Strips, Macaroni and Cheese, Hot Dogs, soup, Salad Bowl, chips and salsa, baked potatoes with trimmings, soft drinks, wine, hard drinks. On the house. We ate and watched football on the big screen TV. It was a nice afternoon. The following day, we went down the elevator to the Riverwalk. No stairs, isn't that great? We explored the riverwalk, took one of the riverboat excursions at $6 a person. Then we got off and found an ice cream parlor and sat watching the world drift by. Later in the day we ate at an Irish restaurant on the river, and bypassed the Drury happy hour. It was very nice with excellent service. The weather was perfect in mid September.
The next day we visited old friends who live there, but got back in time for the happy hour "dinner"....
The hot breakfasts were just as good too. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, muffins etc.
The location of the hotel is terrific for the Riverwalk. The service was friendly and efficient. I wanted to buy a magazine for our road trip, but there was no Hotel Shop. Nor was there anything outside near the hotel. Just a busy street and lines at a bus stop. Which is why I can't give 5 stars. But it is still a great place and we will happily return when we're in the area.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra and get a "deluxe" room.

I read some of the reviewers that rated this hotel poor or terrible. You know, some people just have to be unhappy to be happy. This hotel is an historic building. It's a former bank building complete the teller cage for checking in. The lobby is beautiful and the location is downtown people! There's sometimes "undesirables" who hang out at bus stops and in the parks. The hotel has nothing to do with that. The building is secured after dark and you must slide your room key in the slot in order for the elevator door to open.
Esmeralda was very nice at check in. She found out we were there to celebrate our 30th anniversary and to our surprise, she arranged for a bottle of nice red wine and a box of dark chocolate covered almonds (my husband's fave) to be delivered to our room. You will not encounter an employee who doesn't speak to you.
They offer hot breakfast with all the usual items including biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurt, etc. It does get crowded because weekends tend to get busy. The 5:30 snack time was generously stocked with baked potatoes, Mac and cheese, hot dogs, popcorn, adult beverages and fountain drinks, just to name a few.
It's s non smoking hotel however people smoke on the balconies and unfortunately it stinks up your outdoor enjoyment but oh well. Until San Antonio becomes smoke free you have to take the good with the bad.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great place to stay right on the river, with a great location. Very nice free breakfast and food with drinks between 5:30 and 7:00 PM. Very friendly staff and clean rooms. The one BUT, I have is the drunks and homeless that hang in the back of the hotel, which is the Front of, Texas Land & Cattle Steak House, located on the river in the hotel building. If you don't mind them (the drunks) then, this is a great place to spend a weekend!

We have been going to this hotel every Thanksgiving holiday since I was about 18. I am now 25. We used to stay at the Marriott or Hilton but my mom decided to stay here to save money. We haven't been back to either of those hotel since. This place is never a disappointment. I always feel right at home when we get here. I love the breakfast, first because it's free, and secondly because I LOVE WAFFLES. You also get free sodas all day and they give free popcorn and nachos in the evening. You are also on the riverwalk and can walk down to watch the river boat parade. I love going to San Antonio for Thanksgiving. I have such good memories! We eat Thanksgiving brunch at either the Marriott or Hilton. I was also allowed to bring my dog Baxter when he was still a puppy. The beds are ALWAYS comfortable! Make sure to go to Fiesta Texas, Sea World, The Shops at La Cantera, North Star Mall, Quarry Market, and last but certainly not least Mi Tierra or La Margarita at Market Square. I have such fond memories of all these places. When I go without my parents I feel incomplete since we have been doing these things since i was just a kid! San Antonio and Drury Inn= happiness
