“In the country atmosphere”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

BBq pit right outside. Band plays on the weekend. Large portions and hugh family style platters. Made me feel like I was at a picnic. Reasonably priced. And the Mac and Cheese was so creamy.

“Tasty, tasty, tasty”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Visited this place for the first time to celebrate a co-workers birthday. There was quite a crowd of us and we got in and served very quickly. The daily special was BBQ chicken with 2 sides and a drink. I had the creamed corn and the macoroni and cheese. The creamed corn was delicious and the mac & cheese was thick and hearty. The chicken I received was 2 thighs that were nice and meaty. Received 2 pieces of fresh bread and made myself a small sandwich with the bbq sauce in the yellow bottle. Yummy! So even if you have a crowd of friend &/or co-workers check out this place. It is a bit off the beaten path but you feel like you are in the country although you are in the middle of construction and the concrete jungle.

“Texas Monthly Top 50 Rating is Accurate”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Visited this establishment on a quick trip to SA after reading about it in Texas Monthly. The magazine gave it a 4.25 rating making it one of the top 50 BBQ joints in Texas (the World). I had the brisket and found it to be nice and moist because of the rendered fat from the smoking process. My rating would be closer to a 4. The side of beans were different but didn't wow me and the peach cobbler with pecans was very rich. Seemed the peaches came from a can and not fresh from the nearby Hill Country where peaches were ready for harvesting. The sausage was great with the right snap and flavor and the macaroni and cheese was an unexpected surprise on the menu. There are three homemade sauces; one sweet, one tart and one made from coffee and Shiner Bock. Lunch specials include the meat and two sides for less than $7.00. Great outside patio area that is big enough to accommodate a high school football team, the band and the fans.

“Great Bar-B-Que”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Was rated a top fifty in Texas Monthly. They were right. Pay close attention or you will miss the entrance. The Bar-B-Que Brisket was great. The chicken was good, usually do not eat chicken at Bar-B-Que joint when Pork is available but it was good. Side were good, try the sauce. Got to meet the Pit Master, love his work. It had a nice relax feel, long table. Outside area. Seems like a nice place to spend an evening eating Bar-B-Que and drinking Shiner.
