This is perhaps the largest and best-preserved of the historic houses in the King William District. It contains many family heirlooms and gives you a great insight into San Antonio history in the late 1800's This and the nearby Villa Finale complement each other. See this house for the interesting, well-preserved building and historical perspective, then go to Villa Finale for the extraordinary collection of decorative arts.

I like touring old homes, and this was a beautiful choice. The tour was self-guided and you received a laminated booklet with info on the rooms and pieces in them. We were the only ones there, so we could take as much time as we wanted. The rooms were nicely furnished and done in period style. There were closed off areas, which might have been interesting and it seemed a bit over priced for the length of a visit, but oh well. it reminded me a lot of the Byer-Evans House in Denver or the Molly Brown house.

This is located in the King William District and was worth the stop. There is a guided tour, but we opted for self-guided. We were given a booklet with details about the different rooms and items within each which was easy to follow. A docent was available to answer questions. Great portrait of a late 19th-century family home. Recommended!

A lovely house to visit, although there is not a huge amount of stuff to see. The staff member was very friendly when we went and even let me play the Chickering piano in the parlour, although it is sorely out of tune and condition! The bedrooms upstairs are lovely. Afterwards, we walked around the King William district and walked back downtown via the Riverwalk.

Steves Homestead is a beautifully preserved piece of San Antonio history. The rooms that are open for viewing are fascinating and give a great insight into the family who lived there. However, the gardens are quite bland and lack flowers and the pool area is not open to the public. There seems a lot of potential to do more to attract visitors.

The price for entry is very cheap ( $6 USD when we visited ) for the tour.
