“Beautiful historic site”
Reviewed March 5, 2012

This was my second time visiting San Jose, and I enjoyed being able to show my husband around this time. The church is so lovely, as are the grounds. It was disappointing to discover some sort of outdoors event for children was going on the day we were there. The entire center of the mission courtyard area near the church was full of booths, which really took away from the experience for me. If you are in the area, definitely take the time to visit all four missions.

“Well restored Texas mission”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

One of San Antonio's best preserved missions, the San Jose gives a glimpse into what life on the Texas prairie would have been like a couple of centuries ago. The National Park Service maintains the site and the movie in the visitor center is very informative.

“Must see attraction in San Antonio”
Reviewed March 2, 2012

I enjoyed a visit to this well restored mission. It gives a good feel for how the missions were built and functioned. The layout is similar to how the Alamo was built as well.

If you go, allow at least an hour and don't miss the mill on the north side, outside the main walls. There are also remnants of the quarry where the limestone blocks were mined.

Admission and parking are free.
