Absolutely fell in love with this place. It is like another world with it's own micro climate. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Have your walking shoes on as it is so beautiful we walked around and around for hours.

We spent about 5 hours on the Riverwalk - it was a beautil day in January. There are so many shops and great restaurants, and the River, with boats going by, gives it a very festive yet "other worldly" feel. We stopped along the way for a cocktail here and there, and did a little shopping - sometimes we just sat, relaxed, and people watched. This was out first trip to San Antonio, and I think the Riverwalk was my favorite thing about it (although there are some amazing restaurants). We will go back!

While visiting our daughter and son n law in Midland, Texas, we decided to take a couple days to drive over to San Antonio (down to??) whatever....and do the River Walk. I have to say that it was such a wonderful 2 days and nights. We stayed downtown, but if we ever go again, we will save our money and stay in one of the motels actually located on the River Walk overlooking everything. It has 2 totally different looks from the day and from the night, each one equally beautiful!! We went the first week of April and the landscaping and flowers were so very pretty and temps couldnt have been better. The River Walk Mall was a great way to spend some of our daytime hours and grabbing a homemade pizza in the food court kept us going. Lol...we did a Thursday and Friday which wasnt too extremely crowded this time of year.
By night the lights and the reflections of the lights on the river was so very pretty and romantic. Loved the little sidewalk cafes. Great choices of any kind of food you want. This is definitely somewhere that we would go again! Very intriguing and relaxing....

I love the River Walk. It's great to stroll along people watching or just holding hands enjoying the ambiance. Keep your walking shoes in tow, it's a long walk!! Worth it, because of the great food and drinks you can walk off after. It's pretty busy even during the week, but not as congested as the weekends. If you get tired there are river boats taxis along the river, $5 one way, my boyfriend and I opted to walk off our food each night. It sits below the main streets so you can walk above or below on the river to and from local hotels. I recommend staying somewhere on the river to save on parking and to be accessible to everything. Not much for kids to do along the river, but great for couples. This is my go to place for a weekend getaway.
