We stayed one night at the Hotel Indigo at the Alamo because I had a Groupon coupon. If you book a stay at Hotel Indigo in San Antonio be sure you clarify which location you have chosen. There are a few Hotel Indigos in San Antonio. This one is right across the street from The Alamo. It is within easy walking distance to the Riverwalk. It's a great location if you want to be in that area. The hotel is in a converted post office and they have kept remnants of that in the decor throughout the building. It is a charming boutique hotel. Our room had a very comfortable King size bed. The room was small but very adequate. There was a separate room with toilet and shower - no tub- and a separate area for sink and vanity. We had no view out our window but that is why they had nice window dressings in the room. We had a flat screen TV on a dresser, coffee in the room. The room and hotel have hard wood floors. This is helpful as my husband has an allergy to dust. Our room was very clean - nice bed and linens, plenty of towels. There is no closet but there is a nice armoire in a recessed area off the room. The hotel was very very quiet. The front desk staff were very nice. Check-in and check-out was super easy. Breakfast was served in a small dining room at street level. The food was really good, there was a nice variety and it was very inexpensive. The only down side was the fitness room in the basement. It was very small and very dusty which sent my husband's allergies into overdrive for several hours. I would recommend the hotel for a short stay provided you didnt have a lot of stuff with you.And if you have a dust allergy, stay out of the basement level and the fitness room.

We stayed at this hotel for six nights while attending an event our daughter was involved in. Even though it is an old, historic building, the rooms are very nice. The staff was helpful and courteous for every request we made--from special food requests to finding a taxi, directions around town and just general questions. The hotel is close to almost everything we wanted to do and we easily walked to the Riverwalk area, the RiverCenter mall, the Convention Center and the Alamo is across the street. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to friends and family!

I like old hotels that have been renovated for modern conveniences in a historic setting with lots of character. Original hardwood floors refinished, heavy solid wood doors with a modern lock, very comfortable bed, etc. This reasonably priced hotel is across the street from the Alamo and only a couple blocks from the Riverwalk - convenient to everything downtown.

I will stay here again.

The location is great and rooms are nice although smaller than they appear in photos. The front desk and valet service is terrible. I'm used to being treated very well at any hotel we stay in. Not so, here, even by the "managers". Part of why we chose the Indigo was for the parking/valet service included in the price. We were in San Antonio for our son's graduation from BMT and had to leave early for events everyday. Despite following their directions and calling 1/2 hour ahead, our car was not there and we were almost late for our first chance to see our son. The desk manager actually argued with us and did not apologize as he should have. The valet service was terrible all weekend (long waits, don't open doors) and the front desk doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction. They also cut off our free wifi early. There are too many other amazing hotels in the area to stay here again.

Dear Ann C.,

I wanted to take a moment and apologize the lack of customer service you experienced here at the Hotel Indigo at the Alamo. I take all guest feedback seriously and will follow up with both Valet and the Front Desk staff. I hope you will stay here in the future and give us another chance to show you the level of service we are capable and you deserve.

This was our first time staying at a Hotel Indigo. There is one in my hometown, and it seems to be "the place" to stay. So, when I saw there were two convenient locations in downtown San Antonio, it seemed like a good choice. We arrived early for our 2-night stay, and were allowed to check in immediately & the staff were friendly & helpful. The hotel was not very full, and I would have preferred to be given another room with a better view...after all, why not if there is plenty of availability. We were told that the hotel was less than 25% full. We were on the 2nd floor, and the view was limited...we essentially had a full frontal view of a large government building across the street. The hotel itself is located in a renovated historical building that might have been an office building or bank. It was lovely & interesting, but some parts were tight quarters. Trying to manuever a luggage cart to the elevator was a challenge. The room was nice, not overly big, but ample. Everything was clean & new, and they made every attempt to keep as much of the original building as possible, but still providing those upgrades one needs & expects. Everything worked & the room was properly stocked (loved the Aveda) , and there were no issues in that department. The restaurant, however, was a huge disappointment. Restaurant is a bit of a stretch, as their kitchen may be only a notch above what you would find in those hotels that offer free lobby breakfast. Selection was minimal, due to their inability to prepare a variety, of appetizing food. We only ate breakfast there, so that is the only thing I can comment on, but it was not very good. Also, be prepared to pay extra for parking of any kind, but if you use the valet parking it is $25/day. The good part...we were right across the street from the Alamo, and within walking distance of most everything else. For the very few other attractions that were not within walking distance, we used the trolley. All-in-all, Hotel Indigo was a good experiencebut if I ever come back to San Antonio, I will try to stay on the Riverwalk just for the experience and the ambiance.
