“great customer service”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

there was a mix-up with our reservation and the manager handled it all very professionally. customer service can be lacking and hotel havana has shown that it is their priority! we love their sister hotels in austin - hotel st. cecelia & hotel san jose. they are the best choice when you are looking for something different than the rest.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights during Fiesta San Antonio. We loved this hotel; beautiful room, full of character, excellent staff, fabulous restaurant. It's true there is some noise from the bar (our room overlooked the bar entrance), I didn't care because hotels are never silent and it was such a beautiful room. The location is great because it is within walking distance to the more active areas of River Walk, but away from the fray especially true during Fiesta. Warning: if you are arriving during Fiesta there are MANY road closures so adjust your route to arrive from the north (we came south on N St. Mary's Street and turned left on Richmond). I'm not exaggerating when I say that we drove around for an hour to get to the hotel, we were in the heart of RiverWalk about 7 blocks from our hotel, but couldn't get to it because of the parade, our GPS showed some of the road closures some of the time, but never adjusted the route to allow for them. Note to Hotel Havana: It would have been nice to have been informed of this prior to arrival.

April 10-15 my 3 sisters and I spent 5 nights at this hotel. Loved it!! The only reason I rated it "very good" rather than "excellent" is because of the lighting. One sister found it difficult to put on makeup in the semi-lighted bathroom with a bad mirror. And I kept falling over my shoes because I couldn't see them after I took them off. Otherwise it was perfect. Just the type of hotel we're always looking for. Full of old world charm and nothing cookie cutter about it!

My room was ground floor corner, one sister was second floor corner, and the other two were on the 3rd floor. I believe one of the 3rd floor rooms had a skylight but no windows. The second floor room had access to a wonderful balcony which we used every night. Each room has a full-sized refrigerator which is great for storing your own beverages and snacks. Considering that my room was right up front, it was very quiet. Also, despite the age of the hotel, it had a well running elevator. Each room had their own thermostat so temperature control was in your own hands!!

We only ate one breakfast at the hotel, but the setting was lovely looking down on the river and walking path along side. The service and food outstanding.

The location is very good. The hotel is on the river but not in the heavy traffic tourist area. We were walking distance (+/- 10 minutes) to the Alamo and a couple minutes more to the main section of the Riverwalk. We are not youngsters so when I say it's walking distance, you can believe it's relatively close!

I would stay here anytime I had an opportunity to visit San Antonio.

Room Tip: My ground floor corner room was a decent size, high ceilings, and a lot of windows. This might have...

What a GEM! Our reservations at another place got messed up and at 1am we were searching for a place to stay. It was spring break and everything was booked except 1 room at the Hotel Havana. I am SO glad it didn't work out at the other place. This is close to the River Walk but far enough to not be disrupted from the noise. The restaurant next door, OCHO, is crazy delicious. You have to try the Banana Bread Peanut Butter awesomeness for breakfast. This is an older establishment so there are creaks and noise but they supply ear plugs. Don't let this scare you away. The staff is welcoming and someone is at the desk 24 hours. Book it now, you won't regret it!

Awesome! Rich with details and history! I will stay here again and again! The on premise Ocho Restaurant and bar overlooking the river is an oasis, and the cuisine is a match for foodies!
You MUST check out their club which is a lair for vamps, dark lit only by red votives... Intriguing and sensual!

In the heart of San Antonio only minutes from the famed River Walk is Hotel Havana. This quaint and attractive hotel is not designed for the frenzied business traveler who needs even more Internet download capability or a 24-hour business office. This is the place to getaway. Wood floors, ornate furnishings and antiqure furniture give on the impression they are vacationing in the year 1952. Brass keys rather than electronic key cards contribute to the illusion. A guest may actually slow down and enjoy the day rather than race around at a frenetic pace. Even the dimly-lit downstairs bar adds to the mystic. The Ocho Restaurant's simple menu completes the experience. While there is no hotel fitness center guests are given VIP passes to the Gold's Gym only a 5-minute walk away. Treat yourself and stay here to a fun experience.

After staying all week at a fancy hotel for a conference, I was thrilled to check into the Hotel Havana. Charming and clean, it is definitely on my top five list for hotels. It's quiet and out of the way, but close enough to downtown that you can easily access restaurants and shops and transportation. The decor is fabulous and so different from the usual hotel ambiance. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. If we ever go back to San Antonio, we'd definitely stay at this hotel again.
