Owner description: A huge Mediterranean-style mansion that houses over 10,000 paintings, sculptures and prints.

The building was owned by a woman named McNay. Her dad was an oil tycoon and left her a bunch of money. So her house, was nice. After she died she left it to a man who later left it to the city as an art museum. The museum itself is cool, but the building is amazing. It's really cool to just walk around and look at the Spanish style of architecture.

I asked the people who work there some information about the building, and the guy who worked there for five years told me some information I later found out was false. So make sure to research the building on your own time if that interests you.

Thursday and Sunday it's free. I'm not sure the cost the other days. The building is definitely worth the trip to check it out.

We went there last year and wanted to go again this year but it didn't work out while we were there. The art is very good but its worth going just to see the hacienda.

The exhibits truly represent San Antonio. There events and activities- tours, workshops, receptions, community/family days are terrific; and the grounds are beautiful!

The collection and structure are enjoyable. The only reason I would rate this as average is because of the quality of musuems overalls seems to be increasing in recent times. It is definitely worth a visit and would be very exceptional to a person who is used to the East Coast style of museums.

Originally a fabulous home that has a stunning collection of art. One of the finest we have visited anywhere in the U.S.
