A very competent update of a Lone Star brewery, with some contemporary art, along with a comprehensive collection across the ages and around the world.

Wow, this little museum in an offbeat part of town has excellent Egyptian, Greek, and Roman collections as well as a substantial Asian art collection. Sundays are free from 10-12, and once in, you can spend the entire day. The cafe food is excellent. Make time to see it.

The San Antonio Museum of Art was wonderful. We found exhibits from all over the world. Did not expect to see collections from Greece and Rome in Texas. They were smaller exhibits than in Europe but still awesome. The museum has something for everyone from B.C. to very modern art. The admission price is inexpensive and we spent a couple hours visiting. We walked to the museum on the River Walk Museum Reach expansion and enjoyed the artwork and landscaping along the way.

This is an outstanding museum. It occupies the old Lone Star Brewery, and the redesign is wonderful.
The collection of contemporary art, with an emphasis on local artists and important Mexican artists is wonderful.
The Cafe des Artistes serves an excellent lunch

This museum is really fun to visit. It has a wide variety of exhibits from the most modern of modern art to colonial to Mexican to native works. An unsupported glass esplanade joins the two sections of the museum with great views of the city. The Cafe des Artistes, in the courtyard, serves good, moderately priced meals. Don't miss a walk down the Riverwalk, across from the museum, down to the locks, enjoying the art installations along the way.
