“Really interesting modern art collection”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

If you go to a lot of modern art museums you start seeing the same things over and over. The curator of this museum had a great eye and put together a really fun collection of surprising and interesting things. Don't miss the Guerrnica tapestry that is way back in the museum.

“Don't rely on Museum Website for visitor info.”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

One of the biggest priorities for my trip to San Antonio was a trip to the Museum of Art. Checked the schedule on the website and planned around the schedule given. The website stated the museum would be closed several Saturdays for private parties, but did not show any Friday closures, so imagine how frustrated and disappointed we were to arrive and find them closed for a private party on Friday evening.

The only consolation is that we spent two wonderful hours at the Museo Alameda Friday afternoon - I wouldn't have passed on that for the Museum of Art if I had know I had to choose between the two.

“Quite a collection!”

An amazing collection of treasures from every part of the world representing all periods. Scattered in multiple buildings requiring some effort -- but Do Not Pass This Up!

“Wonderful Way to spend a Rainy Day”
Reviewed May 30, 2012

The SAMA was a fantastic experience. I could have spent another whole day there. The Greek, Roman, and Egyptian exhibits were AWESOME. What was so ironic is that most of the Egyptian exhibit was on loan from the MFA in Boston, where we had just come from. The museum is within walking distance (1 mile) from Alamo Plaza and the layout was incredible. There was also an exhibit of Irish silver dating back from the 1600s -- extremely beautiful and a testamony to the creative abilities of Irish silversmiths. I highly recommend this place to any out-of-town visitor. Inexpensive admission and very helpful and friendly staff. A terrific way to spend a rainy day.
