“Impressive!”
Reviewed November 22, 2011

We were very impressed by this museum. It was much larger than we expected and had so many items that were thousands of years old - just fascinating. The restaurant outside was very good as well!

“Nice collection, well displayed, not too large”
Reviewed November 19, 2011

A nice variety of art is shown, from Greek & Roman statues to pre-Columbian art to modern art. Very interesting Asian art section. There is a beautiful Dale Chihulie glass ceiling, and a large room for traveling exhibits. Restaurant is in a separate building overlooking the Riverwalk. Docent tours are very interesting and worth taking. Good gift shop too. The museum reaches out to the community with art lessons, special lectures, films, etc.

“Beautiful Art Surrounded By History”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

With the new addition of the Museum Reach section of the Riverwalk this museum is an easy stroll from Downtown and well worth the trip! It is housed in what was the old Lone Star Brewery and has contains incredible collections. Add a bit of education to your trip. You'll be glad you did!

“Smaller museum than I had expected”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

On the smaller side, and a bit short on information on some of the pieces but overall it is a very clean and pleasant museum.

“Surprisingly diverse collection”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

I grew up in NYC so nothing usually compares. This museum has a surprisingly large and diverse collection compared to what I've seen in other cities outside NYC. They have a decent Egyptian collection with items as old as 3000 B.C. We spent hours there which was nice to escape the heat.
