We had a guided tour of 4 of the Missions around San Antonio - one was closed for repairs. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour - Nice to see the restoration of this historical landmarks.

OK ... everyone who goes to San Antonio stops by at The Alamo thinking they have seen everything about the history of San Antonio. Well, if you haven't taken the time to follow the mission trail through the Misssions Historical Park area, you have only begun to scatch the surface. The Alamo is animportant place to visit, but it is really the least impressive of the historical mission sights. Bring your camera, as you will be showing these photos and explaing them to your friends for quite some time.

This is the largest Mission in San Antonio Texas and it is almost restored to its original design. These are Spanish missions and were not only churches but communities with the church its focus. We were only able to see the largest which is San Jose Mission there are I think 4 more. There is a lot of history, beautiful buildings, the church is amazing in its design, everyone will enjoy it and if you want to see all the missions you will need a minimum of 4-5 hours. We plan to go again to see the rest.

Loved going to see the missions. Felt like I was on vacation while not leaving our home town of San Antonio. Took my nephew to see the other missions before the Alamo, so he really understood what the Alamo had been before the battle.
