Best Western Alamo Suites
Ranked #93 of 357 Hotels in San Antonio
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Chose this hotel based on reviews and proximity to The Alamo. We were not disappointed. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite as our requested handicapped room was not available. We enjoyed 2 nights with our own living room, kitchenette, jacuzi and very comfortable bed. Hotel was clean, quiet and staff very helpful and friendly. Although the immediate area does not appear to be the best--we did not worry about our safety, or our car. Breakfast was good. Vanessa at the front desk told us about using the trolley for trips to downtown and the Alamo---1 short block walk, $1.25 each and we not only had a "free" narrated tour of the area by the trolley driver, but arrived right at our destination without the hassle of parking and walking. There are no close restrurants--it was necessary to use the car for dining and other attractions like the missions.

I am glad that you enjoyed the jacuzzi suite. The separate living area does come in handy especially for families with small children. The Blue Line Trolley is definitely a plus as many people want to beat the Texas heat and since it is fairly close to the hotel it provides an alternative mode of transportation to the downtown riverwalk. Your feedback has been greatly appreciated and hope that upon your return to San Antonio you will decide to come back to our property.

The location is close to the river walk, but not close enough for our family to walk. Especially considering all the walking you do on the river walk. The room was clean, bed was comfy but firm, shower had great pressure, large refrigerator and microwave, and awesome breakfast. My only complaint was that the garbage was overflowing at the back door where we came in and out.

Thank you for the great comments on the Best Western Alamo Suites. Families definitely love the large refrigerators and having a microwave in the room. The Texas shaped waffles are hit with all our guests. We will share your compliment with the entire team! Thank you again and hope to see you and your family back soon.

so my family was indecisive on hotel and I chose this hotel, reading reviews I was afraid my family was going to kill me if they didn't like it... actually we left pleased with the staff although we had booked another bigger room there was an error and they booked the wrong room for us, but they compensated with a great discount :D room was big enough for us breakfast was good *Ms. Yvonne was a wonderful lady will deffinately book w this hotel on our visit to SA again :D parking was tight but the mgr made sure he found us a spot ;)

Room Tip: hallway 1st floor might smell a little since pool is in the 1st floor

Visited San Antonio for my sons graduation from bootcamp at Lackland AFB. We chose the hotel for it's proximity to the base and the San Antonio Riverwalk. We found the room to be clean and comfortable although as a suite it had only a small 4 ft divider between sleeping and living room area. Location was perfect for short drive to AFB or long walk(or cab ride) to Riverwalk area. The area around the hotel is industrial but we figured we could take cab at nite to Riverwalk or specific restaurant and we took the long walk to it during the day(wear comfortable shoes). We figured the money saved on the hotel could be used on any cab rides if needed. The continental breakfast was a nice start for the day and the free parking and Internet also provided nice savings. I think it's a great choice if you plan on visiting both the Riverwalk and the AFB.

We had such a wonderful time in the hotel, Venssa at the front desk went above and beyond for us when we needed her assistance on restaurant choices close by! Breakfast was your usual no meat choices just waffles cold cereal, milk ,juices , it got the job done! The lady running the breakfast was wonderful very helpful with the waffles when needed. Only bad thing comment I have is that the breakfast area is too small, but that’s the only negative comment. We arrived a little earlier than schedule and were allowed to check in about an hour early major plus, because we were not dress up to go out in any where since we drove over 4 hours. We enjoyed our stay and have already recommenced it to a few friends who are planning to head to san Antonio for vacation.
