We recently stayed in this hotel, and found no problems at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful....room was clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was good and everyone was very friendly. We were so close to everything and everywhere we needed to be. We would definitly choose this hotel again.

The location to everything was very ideal. I like that security is perched on top of the building with a 360 view. I did see a few bugs here & there but nothing to call the front desk about. The staff was friendly. I did not like the cleaning technique of stripping all the rooms at the same time because I returned to my room for a nap & my bed was undone & by the time it was done I had to return to my convention. The last day I paid for late check out at 200pm instead of noon and the desk did not communicate this with the housekeeping staff. My door was banged on every 15minutes up until 0200pm when I left by different employees. I still was charged the fee despite the ongoing interruptions. Overall, it was alright. There isn't anything spectacular about it.

I stayed here for 5 nights...and the ONLY reason I didn't change hotels is because I was traveling with a friend who had unfortunately pre-paid for the room on a non-refundable website. So I simply went to my "happy place" while in the room.
First of all, I booked a non-smoking room - but received a smoking room. Normally I'm not that picky about it, but it quite literally seemed like the maid service must have been smoking in there during the day while I was in conference. Again, I didn't change rooms because my friend was next door, and I didn't want to move too far away. The neighborhood is a little shady and we were two single women traveling together - so I opted for safety first. Also, our room was in the 'building across the street' which is out of sight from the main building/front desk area - hidden behind an old abandoned warehouse-type building.
The smell in the room was pretty horrendous. Even ignoring the stale cigarette smell, it reeked of old, dirty, musty, damp, moldy - you name it. The carpet was disgusting - it actually felt damp and you could see quite obviously they don't vacuum in the corners.
One of my lamps didn't work through the entire stay.
I peeled back the sheets on the bed to check for bed bugs (as I do in all hotels, because they can be anywhere). I didn't find bed bugs, but what I did find was dirt - and lots of it!
And most of all...the bedspread had dried blood stains on the underside of it. Each day when I left the room, I left the bedspread sitting in a way that the blood stains were facing up, and impossible for housekeeping to miss. And each day, I returned to find the same dirty bedspread made up neatly on the bed again.
The staff were not friendly at all right from the beginning. So I chose to not bother putting in a complaint with them. It didn't seem like it would do much good.
When I checked out, I couldn't get a proper receipt (other than my credit card receipt) because their computers were "down" - as they had been for our entire stay. When I explained I needed one to claim for expenses, they didn't seem to care, and just gave me a copy of the sheet I had signed when I registered - the best they could do apparently.
I have to say location is the best/only thing really going for this hotel - and even that is questionable. Although it is within easy walking distance to the Riverwalk, conference center, etc, it seems to be on the edge of where the nice downtown area ends, and the seedy neighborhood begins.
I didn't expect a great hotel - as I was traveling on a budget. But this place isn't even good value for the rates they charge! Do yourself a favor - pay a little bit more for a whole lot more someplace else!

I have never posted a reviewed a hotel in my life, but i always read them before staying somewhere. That being said, the fact that i'm posting now should speak for itself. Let me start by saying that I travel alot, & i have never been concerned about staying in a "nice" hotel. Hotels for me are just a place to sleep & shower, why pay alot for that? So i carefully selected this hotel based on free parking & its walking distance proximity to the alamo/riverwalk. all other hotels n the area charge > $20 per day for parking. So i was happy to save $50! I checked in @ 2pm on sunday sept 5, 2010. There's the main building & a building across the street, which i was put across street. No biggie - i felt safe being so close to everything. I went out (walked) @10pm to a bar & returned @ 11:30. I smoked a cigarette outside the room, and then left (drove) @12:30 to go to another bar. When i returned @2, i noticed my blue computer bag was on my bed, opened. I immediately noticed my clothing bag was gone, my clothes, my $180 sonicare toothbrush, my sunglasses, my shoes, & cologne. I then noticed the window next to the door had been punctured with something, & broken. I was scared becuz i had left my lights & tv on while away, it was early n the am, & i felt they either knew i had left or would have tried to get in even if i was there... I went across the street to the front desk guy & told him my room was burgularized & things were stolen, to which he replied "ok, what do u want me to do about it?" so i called the police, & while waiting he said i should wait in my room....I told him i didn't feel comfortable going over there w/o police, who finally came & made a report. while the police were there, the front desk guy came over & said "this looks like someone had to have had a key", & i'm like, what does that mean? He said that it would be hard to open the door thru the window, & i agreed so that means an employee did it or they had some special tool that would aide them in the difficult task of opening the door thru the broken window.... i then asked the front desk guy to put me in another room, to which he replied it'll b difficult cuz i had a prepaid room. i was very polite the entire time & said i didn't care how it happened, but i wasn't staying in that room. He tells me to talk to the GM the next morning to make sure I don't owe anything...I'm like, for what? So the next morning i go to the lobby & ANNA, the GM, is there behind front desk & i introduce myself as the guy in roomXXX who was burgularized last night. She said, "ok". Immediately i realized this must happen alot @ this property & they really don't care at all about me, my safety, or my experience as a patron there @ their hotel. I told her that i was there to make sure my cc wasn't charged for the damages done to the window, & she said it shouldn't be. She was so cut & dry. She started doing other things like looking thru papers & glancin at me to see if i still needed anything else. So i told her that the guy last night made it seem like I could be responsible for my room being burgularized, & i explained how he didn't even want to put me into another room. Then I told her that it is obvious that he, nor she cares at all about what happened to me. She then said something that really cut me deep, which was "well our attitudes changed when the detective came this morning & he didn't see how someone could open the door thru the window, so i'd like to be able to charge u for the $250 window we replaced but i really can't unless the report is finished." At that point i told her that all i ever wanted was for someone in that hotel to say "i'm so sorry that happened to you, we're going to switch you rooms where u can feel safe & you won't have to worry about anything", but the treatment i received was "ok, who cares, i'd charge u for the damages if i could, have a nice day". ANNA's reply to that was, i'm sorry. i let her know i'd be calling her corporate office, to which i did, & i'm awaiting my follow up call about that. i would not recommend this shady hotel, not for free parking, not for any loyalty to days inn, and not even if they gave me a free months stay there for my trouble!!!

Im not kidding this place is the worst I have ever seen, I have travel a lot, and we are not that picky, but this place was horrible. Shame on Days Inn for letting them use your brand name. The manager Ana was ver rude, the rest of the staff is useless. The place was infested with crickets, clawling on the walls, dead ones that people had killed smelled very bad, roaches ( I saw 3 big ones) There was frogs or toads on the hallway, I had a room near the corner by the vending machines and ice machine, and there is were I saw a dead mouse, it smelled really bad it had to be there for several hrs. This I went back to the reception and told them that I didnot want to stay there, they said that that was the only room and that I was free lo leave at any moment but they would not return any money. I left less than 2 hrs after I had checked in and went to the Hampton Inn across the street, and had a great stay.
The San Antonio Health Office should visit this place as well as the Tourism office, San Antonio is a Great place to vacation but a hotel like this gives them a bad name.
The location is good, but there are many other hotels in downtown San Antonio. If you end up staying Iwouldnt eat there, because if the rooms and public areas are so dirty I can only imaging the kitchen ...

I was very nervous about staying at this hotel after reading all the negative reviews. I was locked in because I was there for a large convention and no other rooms were available downtown. I expressed my concerns when I arrived and Eric the manager went out of his way to get me in a great room across the street. Considering this convention took up all hotels in San Antonio, Eric spent a half hour moving me into a room that would address my concerns. My room was clean (recently remodeled). There were no bugs. They cleaned my room every day. I slept well every night - no noises to wake me up (I'm a light sleeper). Yes, the bathroom was on the small side, but no big deal. I enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning. Yes I had to walk across the street, but it only took a minute or two to get there. The location was wonderful - I could walk to the Alamo, the convention center, the Alamodome and the Riverwalk. And parking was free! Overall, I'm so glad I didn't overreact to the fears I had after reading the reviews. It was a pleasant experience for me.
