Owner description: Built for the 1968 HemisFair in honor of the city's 250th anniversary, this delightful park is a local favorite, particularly the water gardens and the kid-designed wood and sand playground, which includes a castle and space tunnel. The highlight is the looming 750-foot tall Tower of the Americas, offering a terrific view of the city.

“Not the centre of town (but near to it)”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

The Hemisfair park is very pleasant and calming, if perhaps a little tired with the four old mansions at the entrance which are deserted and appear to be just on the brink of decay. Perhaps an early example of government shut down. However very nice strolls, extensive waterworks, and of course the big view tower. You envy conference delegates who can be in the conference centre right here and be on this nice park and so very very close to the real centre of San Antonio, the Riverwalk.

“Yeah, okay.”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

Yes, it's pretty. Yes, it's within walking distance of downtown and Alamo Plaza. However, I don't quite understand the point of this park. There are a few sculptures and it leads on to the conference centre and the Tower of the Americas, but I've seen better. It wasn't helped by the fact that a few of the water features were turned off (I assume because of the ongoing drought), so there were several areas of bare concrete that looked a bit like building sites.

Good points: free, good to wander for twenty minutes or so.

Bad points: a bit boring.

“Another great walk in San Antonio”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

A beautiful park with water fountains and waterfalls, and old historic buildings. The park is extremely clean and very pleasant to discover. You can actually get to it easily from the River Walk or La Villita Historic Village. Once you start walking around, you will discover the Conference Centre and the Towers of America (see my review for that one). Even though it was a pretty hot day when I visited, I enjoyed the walk (walking for about 5 and half hours that day). The surroundings are simply beautiful and I got very nice photos. If you have the time to visit it, I would recommend you do it. When I did, there was no activities or events going on but the walk was still very interesting.

“Nice Waterfalls!”

This park has a bunch of beautiful waterfalls. The overall park is clean and easily accessible. We visited this park on our way to Tower of America. It's worth a visit.
